I don't know. Maybe somebody that follows the game would realize Scherzer started the 7th game of the World Series. That's a pretty big deal. IMO
Thanks for proving my point.
Please elaborate. Thanks. Also, could he improve the Cardinals starting pitching in '26? Since he's a FA, this is a relevant topic for discussion?
He's not going to play for a rebuild.

He's got enough money for 100 lifetimes. He wants to play for a contender.
"He's got enough money for 100 lifetimes". On the other hand, maybe that's a reason to finish out his career with his hometown team. Just a thought.
Well I guess anything is possible but not for 13 million.

Well, if he stays in STL, it might give him a good chance to play for a contender.

Sign Max, and put in the contract that if he wants to be traded at the DL, the org must fulfill his wish and he has full veto power.
Actually, hot a bad suggestion.

Scherzer to the Cards makes zero sense even if Gray is traded.
But isn't it worth discussing? Since the Cardinals' starting rotation, obviously, needs help.
1) In reading the responses in this thread it would seem that opinions are rather one sided!
2) Do YOU think they should sign Scherzer??

Yeah and if has yet another injury which certainly will occur the team is out salary which apparently they can ill afford to lose. Thus him not having any trade value at the deadline.
Sometimes, you just have to "roll the dice". He's been a world class starting pitcher for a long time. Is he worth $13 million? He'd sure help with attendance.

Yeah don't mean to be but some of these topics.

Scherzer is used to the spotlight that isn't going to happen here.
I enjoy Hot Stove talk and we get a lot of great discussion.
But.....some of this stuff is puzzling.
It's fun.

I recall (old guy here) hot stove talk on the old call in sports show on KMOX with Jack Buck and others in the winter
time.

Some good discussions.

Agree
And this off season should be filled with a lot of good discussion especially considering the new regime under Bloom and multiple team needs.

1) His past history while impressive has no bearing on his fit with the Cards in 2026.
2) He is probably worth $13M but NOT with the Cards. As everyone else has stated!
3) You didn’t answer my question in #2. What do YOU think?

Sorry....but this is what frustrates most posters on here.
You start threads. Which is fine.
But you constantly ask rhetorical and repetitive questions.
And you offer little in the way of opinions.
Answering a question with another question is not discussion or dialogue.

If trades aren't productive for starting pitching help. Scherzer would be worth the gamble at $13 Million. Especially, if Gray is traded.

Though St. Louis is hometown , wondering if Scherzer would leave Blue Jays if he may have more interest in the Giants. Scherzer would be reunited with his old college coach from Mizzou Tony Vitello as his manager in San Fran. Scherzer has given Vitello credit for developing him as a college pitcher and the two have had a close friendship ever since that time. In additon , Buster Posey has made some big moves .. Not only the outside the box of hiring Vitello but acquiring Devers last year along with Willy Adames last offseason. I could see Posey trying to get Scherzer to Giants before Cardinals acquiring him for Cardinals. I may be wrong though.
