Correct me if I'm wrong but...they called it a HBP. But he attempted to bunt it and missed it. He didn't pull the bat back so it should have been called a strike even if it hit him. He attempted to bunt and missed it.

yea , that is interesting to watch in slow mo, he still has bat square to plate

and oh, note the supposed hit his hand first , the guy is not rubbing his index finger at first base!!!!! He is rubbing the lower fingers, and it should be smashed to heck on how the ball broke to go down if you you argue that. Again, one you realize it is hitting not above the hand but barely up the bat towards the handle, it is clear. .

Question : If this game should go 18 innings , the equivalent of a double header .. will the fans be charged for added game as they exit the stadium ?. I think DeWitt might try that ! :D

Hit his hand. Can clearly see it hit his finger
It clearly hit his hand, after it hit his bat = foul ball.
Nope.

I believe by rule he did NOT attempt to bunt it .. He did square around to bunt but the batter must push the bat forward some in order for it to be an attempt... merely just holding the bat in that position does not constitute an attempted bunt .. at least I do not think so . now correct me if I am wrong
I would look that up, not guess. Its like 8 seconds on google. Especially since one of the best bunting technique drills is to catch the ball with the bat. Ie, put a glove on that hand and hold the bat in it , and catch it. Your guess would say If you just let the ball bounce off the bat, it can never be a strike....... so no.

The pitch came right at him and he was pulling back. Hit his hand anyway

Helluva game. I know it's a lot easier to watch if you don't have a rooting interest. I'm sure we all remember game 6 2011. Since this isn't a ws game but it's a deciding game is it at the same level?

I'm of the opinion that it hit his hand but it was very close.

Looking at the rule that's partially correct. It also says movement of the body would count too.. I would have to watch again to see if he made any body movements. Surprised the announcers didn't mention any of that.

clear as a bell off the bat up towards the handle a tad. Also note he rubs his pinkie at 1b, not his index finger you claim changed the direction forcefully when you dot see it coming off the bat. that is the dead give away. No injured index finger you think caused that massive direction change to mid lower part of hand.

Wouldn't a walk-off walk be fitting for a 15 inning game ?
