What message did it send to your own minor leaguers (who had worked hard to earn a shot with the big club), when you sign a 30 year old outsider over them?
None.
Right, it was the wrong message if you want to give younger players any runway at all. Church was slashing the following at Memphis - .335/.400/.521/.921. 25 years old.
Facts matter.
Church was blocked by Scott - both being LH hitting CF's with an organization overloaded from that side.
Hampson took zero PA's from Church.
When Scott was hurt, Church was promoted and played.
Is Hampson worthy of an MLB job?
Not really.
Did he block Church?
Not for one second.
Exactly.
Were Church and Antico at Memphis when they signed Hampson?
Do you want church to be brought up and not get at bats? Did you want to take away scotts at bats.
So.e of you dont understand how 13th position player works.
You only get to start 9 guys. Not 13

Arenado recommended him said he’s a great guy and teammate
LOL
So a buddy of Arenado gets to ride the pine just because
This organization is a train wreck
Since these games don’t matter shouldn’t they give a look to somebody who might contribute in 2026
Using a reset season or runway season or whatever the heck they're calling it, should be used to play the guys who are in future plans. But that would mean there is a plan. This whole season has been a typical half-[ashed] Mozeliak mess. He did nothing to initiate a reset. He sat around all winter with his thumb up his (donkey). Couldn't trade the NTCs. He simply let old free agents walk. No effort Johnny jackass.
Moe has never had a plan since he became GM/POBO. Why would he establish one for his last year in the organization? This is why he should have been relegated to answering his phone, assuming it would ever ring, to answer questions such as which drawer did you put the yellow hi-liters in? It is a half-[ashed] mess because that what he does. His incompetence as a leader/manager is inexplicable.
Exactly. Why did they need a transition year? Bloom has done this job and doesn't need training. Especially training from that putz. This was nothing more than propping up Mo's ego. The whole thing is weird and confusing. Mo was going to hand things before the deadline, then it was after the deadline, now it's after the season. What a mess.

Um yes they do. Most orgs dont use their 26th man that much unless injuries occur and dont bring up rookies to be 26th man rittung on bench
Do you understand the difference between the conditions in AAA ball vs. the major leagues? It's not just about
ABs. It's about the aura of being a major leaguer and being honored for doing a good job at AAA.

I’m sure every player in AAA understands how major-league rosters are built. And they understand Garrett Hampson is mostly just a safety net for the other starters that the organization wants to start 100% of the time.

Terribly poor safety net.

Hampson is not an MLB player. Period. And MLB roster spots should not be handed out to anyone who is not an MLB quality player. Not on teams that actually care about winning.
But under Mozeliak, it's just fine to have players who don't belong on an MLB roster. I don't give a s*** whether he's the 26th man or whatever. He has to be able to perform when called upon, and he cannot do it.

Not relevant.
Church and Antico could have been anywhere on earth when Hampson was signed - and they still would not have been able to play 7 defensive positions.
As bad as he is, Hampson can.

Whom would you rather have pinch hit in a late inning with the tying or winning run in scoring position?

Mo-ran mailed this season in...took the money ...
Made no effort to make this team competitive and just watched the fans stop caring..
And his smug, arrogant attitude is a [fork] you to fans.
