See Lawless, Tom. WS HR aside, he was the 25th guy. He only played on days Whitey didn’t have a beer.

Education time:

There is a reason why Hampson has only 31 PA. It’s not only because he blows, but because the org wants to give max opportunities to the other guys on the roster.

GH offers backup to Sagesse, Gorman, Burleson, Scott, etc.

It was an injustice (and made no sense) when they signed this 30 year old player who had been DFAed by Cincy, instead of bringing up Church or Antico. Guys from our own system.

You have to understand how the roster works.

They are trying to give the other guys MAX playing time. It's why Hampson has 31 PA in 2 months.

Why do you want a guy on roster who has no future with team?

No other team in MLB operates in this fashion

What message did it send to your own minor leaguers (who had worked hard to earn a shot with the big club), when you sign a 30 year old outsider over them?

Once they picked him up, they were on the hook for paying the balance of the season.
He is around as a "break glass in an emergency" last option who can play pretty much anywhere on the field other than pitcher/catcher.
STL would still pay him if released and he is taking exactly zero PA's from others.
Does he belong in MLB?
No.
Is he harming anything?
No.

Right, it was the wrong message if you want to give younger players any runway at all. Church was slashing the following at Memphis - .335/.400/.521/.921. 25 years old.

They did the same thing last year with Carpenter, Crawford, Feede, Lynn, Gibson and a couple of others. They want development, and don't reward it when they should be brought up. And how often does a young player have a good game then sits the next day?

Facts matter.
Church was blocked by Scott - both being LH hitting CF's with an organization overloaded from that side.
Hampson took zero PA's from Church.
When Scott was hurt, Church was promoted and played.
Is Hampson worthy of an MLB job?
Not really.
Did he block Church?
Not for one second.

Were Church and Antico at Memphis when they signed Hampson?

LOL

So a buddy of Arenado gets to ride the pine just because

This organization is a train wreck

Since these games don’t matter shouldn’t they give a look to somebody who might contribute in 2026
Using a reset season or runway season or whatever the heck they're calling it, should be used to play the guys who are in future plans. But that would mean there is a plan. This whole season has been a typical half-[ashed] Mozeliak mess. He did nothing to initiate a reset. He sat around all winter with his thumb up his (donkey). Couldn't trade the NTCs. He simply let old free agents walk. No effort Johnny jackass.
Moe has never had a plan since he became GM/POBO. Why would he establish one for his last year in the organization? This is why he should have been relegated to answering his phone, assuming it would ever ring, to answer questions such as which drawer did you put the yellow hi-liters in? It is a half-[ashed] mess because that what he does. His incompetence as a leader/manager is inexplicable.

Too bad you don’t recognize more of these Moe abominations. Then you might have a chance at being a semi-rational human being. No one cares if he has a nice family and no one understands how that could make him competent at what he does for a living.
