They cannot allow his toxicity to continue to permeate through the organizations young players.
So what are you doing in 2026? Do you take the chance on a first year manager? A Varitek or Yadi? Or do you bring in an established manager who has a track record? If so, who is that established manager? Maddon? Francona?
If Varitek were hired over Yadi, would Yadi be done with the Cardinals organization?

To answer your question about Yadi....yes, I think he'd be done with Cards if we hired another former C over him.
He lied about Cardinal fans calling him derogatory names.Bad14 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 10:09 amI don't want him back either but what proof do you have he's toxic?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. That story lost traction very quickly.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 20:16 pmHe lied about Cardinal fans calling him derogatory names.Bad14 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 10:09 amI don't want him back either but what proof do you have he's toxic?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. I don't disagree, but it isn't necessarily hiring within the organization/past that is bad, it is the specific people they have chosen that have been bad.Bomber1 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 18:43 pmAll JMO -Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 14:13 pmWhy not?Bomber1 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 13:39 pmI sincerely hope they do not follow your suggestion.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 09:45 amBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. I’m sick and tired of all the pining for the past.
3 hires from within this organization have resulted in the current quagmire of listlessness.
This organization needs new blood and an experienced, respected manager.
I have said this for years and nothing yet has convinced me otherwise.
Because it was just that, "a story".JuanAgosto wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 21:46 pmThat story lost traction very quickly.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 20:16 pmHe lied about Cardinal fans calling him derogatory names.Bad14 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 10:09 amI don't want him back either but what proof do you have he's toxic?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players. I've got to believe none of that is coming from Bloom and it's just the dying gasp of the Mozeliak regime.
Bloom will begin his tenure with the same amount of venom and hatred the large majority of the fanbase has for Mo if he does that and Dewitt will only see further declining ticket sales.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 16:57 pmI've got to believe none of that is coming from Bloom and it's just the dying gasp of the Mozeliak regime.
Seriously, can anyone think of a single reason that a person in Bloom's position would keep Marmol?
If the answer is "Because DeWitt says so" I ask: Can anyone think of a single reason DeWitt would keep Marmol?
Exactly. I understand the argument that Marmol should not be blamed for a flawed roster, but he's an average manager at best. Not difficult or expensive to replace. When you weigh that against the need for a major PR break from the Mo era, there is literally not a single reason to keep him.Banner29 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 17:12 pmBloom will begin his tenure with the same amount of venom and hatred the large majority of the fanbase has for Mo if he does that and Dewitt will only see further declining ticket sales.Dicktar2023 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 16:57 pmI've got to believe none of that is coming from Bloom and it's just the dying gasp of the Mozeliak regime.

Unless their intention is to just alienate the fanbase I don’t think either of them want that. I have been saying for a while that simply hiring a new manager will bring back a substantial portion of the fanbase. Not just some non qualified yes man of course. It will need to be a stud hire. But it will not take a big spending offseason to bring the fans back.
Pretty much my impression when I saw it.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 15:57 pmBecause it was just that, "a story".JuanAgosto wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 21:46 pmThat story lost traction very quickly.Mr.Snuggleupagus wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 20:16 pmHe lied about Cardinal fans calling him derogatory names.Bad14 wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 10:09 amI don't want him back either but what proof do you have he's toxic?Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑01 Sep 2025 07:46 am I do not agree with the notion that Oli should finish out his contract in 2026 and be the manager because it is a rebuild anyway, and he is there to work with the young players.
