He is really important. Not a perfect player--but darn good. He's needed here.
I wouldn't trade him this late in the summer. He would need to be replaced. Some journeyman D won't cut it.
Definitely better off with him. We have enough draft picks in my mind.

Re: Red Wings Predicted To Trade For Justin Faulk
Exactly. Part of the Blues' difficulty in killing penalties and 5 on 6 was not enough RHD. It's far more difficult for LHD playing the right side to clear the puck along the boards on the backhand. The Blues can't afford to trade a guy like Faulk with no depth at RHD.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Aug 2025 11:28 amYeah, whether people like him or not, Justin Faulk is our best option at 2nd RHD. There aren't many, if any, left on the market to acquire.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑01 Aug 2025 09:25 am Boy in the case the Blues defense gets a lot worse in a hurry. Like Faulk or dont like Faulk there is no internal replacement nothing in the near future thats for sure. We havent even seen Mailloux Im guessing hes at least a year away from being a top 4 RHD guy
Until someone of equal value becomes available or one of the young guys gets a lot better really fast, Faulk will be here until his contract expires.
Re: Red Wings Predicted To Trade For Justin Faulk
By the TDL Mailloux could make Faulk expendable, and certainly by next offseason we are hoping that is the case. I think you take a 1st for Faulk if it's presented and then fill the bottom pairing. Would agree that it doesn't make sense right now, but I don't think the plan should be to keep Faulk for the duration of his contract just because he's RH. Next season we will almost definitely see some prospects coming up, if not by the end of this season. Jiricek is our RHD that I would estimate to be ready by the end of Faulk's contract, but he could surprise and be here starting next season. But we also have some guys on the left side that will be pushing for spots.icon wrote: ↑03 Aug 2025 03:29 amExactly. Part of the Blues' difficulty in killing penalties and 5 on 6 was not enough RHD. Who are these “people” you are referring to? The Einstein’s on this forum, or click bait bloggers?stanw wrote: ↑02 Aug 2025 05:06 am I would make that trade everyday of the week. There is no way the Wings give up a first for Faulk. At the end of the season people were talking like the Blues would have to give up a first just to move Faulk's contract. Look at his numbers the past 2 years,he was known for his offense - last year 4 goals -he is no better than a 3rd pair dman-- look at his give away total, game seven against the Jets-- last minute of play just keep the puck tied up in corner,no he tries to back hand the puck out, that didn't work. how many times trying to clear did he shoot it over the boards, getting a penalty at a bad time. He is JAG - for a 6.5 million cap hit you can sign a JAG just like him for half the money. And last I do think he would approve a trade, he would be closer to his Minnesota base where he is from and lives in the off season.
Re: Red Wings Predicted To Trade For Justin Faulk
Not hating on Justin Faulk at all. He has been good for the Blues and done a solid job in a role a lot of people hate on him for. He is getting older, and we all should have expected that. Heck, Pietrangelo is done. Time catches up to everyone.
I feel this wouldn't be a bad trade. Presume they really think Logan Mailloux will be top 4 by middle of the year. Can the Blues get more than this if they wait? This seems like a good payment for getting Faulk into camp for a team. If Mailloux is ready, and mentally tough enough, and I like the interviews he has done, he might love the trust this would show in what the Blues want from him. It would be 100% different that what he got in Montreal.

It seems like this forum might be overrating Logan a bit - if this guy can become a top four player on a playoff team in less than one pro season then Montreal is incompetent and needs to fire their GM/scouts/coaches.

Broberg was an NHL player when he was acquired...moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 11:19 amWasn't the same being said about broberg?BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 11:18 am It seems like this forum might be overrating Logan a bit - if this guy can become a top four player on a playoff team in less than one pro season then Montreal is incompetent and needs to fire their GM/scouts/coaches.

Dig through the Montreal fan comments and what some opinions on what they thought of him before the Noah Dobson trade. A good number of their fans were making them same predictions of him before the Dobson trade. I think we would all take Dobson over Mailloux. But saying that doesn't make Mailloux an less of a solid prospect for a 3-4 defenseman with this his targeted breakout year.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 11:18 am It seems like this forum might be overrating Logan a bit - if this guy can become a top four player on a playoff team in less than one pro season then Montreal is incompetent and needs to fire their GM/scouts/coaches.

Sort of. He played 22 nhl games (regular season and playoffs) and 49 ahl games the season before the offer sheet.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 11:28 amBroberg was an NHL player when he was acquired...moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 11:19 amWasn't the same being said about broberg?BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 11:18 am It seems like this forum might be overrating Logan a bit - if this guy can become a top four player on a playoff team in less than one pro season then Montreal is incompetent and needs to fire their GM/scouts/coaches.
Re: Red Wings Predicted To Trade For Justin Faulk
Somewhat misleading. True, that's what he played precisely the season before, but had a total of 82 regular-season games and 20 playoff games under his belt. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 12:06 pmSort of. He played those games over the course of 3 seasons though. He wasn’t a regular in the nhl until last season.blues2112 wrote: ↑04 Aug 2025 12:37 pmSomewhat misleading.
