so basically we traded an all star closer for three 20 something minor leaguers still single A ball.
What do you think a 2+ month rental should bring back?
Ideally something more enticing than what we'd get if we retained him, offered a QO, then he signed elsewhere.

Why did people seriously think they were gonna blow it all up in a transition year? Bloom is going to start with this group next year and see what he has and wants to do with this group. A big sell was never going to happen
Oh lord, we still need to see what we have?

Just what we need -- for Bloom to be Mozeliak 2.0. Let's hope not. Proactive, please.

Yeah let's keep this positional player roster intact that just got shut out twice by the Marlins. And got shut out and every game of a three-game series with the Pirates. They are sensational.
He is a such an embarrassment.

I'll copy in paste it from the dozen other defenses I've had to write on how I feel. Tired of coming up with new ways to say the same thing.
Well, for the two month rental of the Ghost of Jon Lester, we traded Lane Thomas. A player who had been in the majors, but hadn't gotten much traction. He had some good time in Washington. I see the Matz trade as similar to that. Not a perfect parallel, but similar. Lester was clearly on his last run. Lane hadn't really broken through here.
I absolutely cannot believe that you couldn't have gotten something similar for Helsley. Before some Sammy Smartypants tries to (it's been done a lot in retorts to how much I hate the Helsley trade) strawman me, no, I am well aware that we weren't going to reel in Lindor or Soto from the Mets for Helsley. Or a Francisco Alvarez or Brett Baty.
But what about some kid who's kinda on that AAA/MLB shuttle? Like a Mets' version of McGreevy or Saggese? Neither are blue-chip guys, but guys you can reasonably count on to see some MLB time.

So stupid to even let that putz be conducting trades. What a lazy (donkey) blowhard.
What a terrible poster.
If we had a mano v. Mano vote between you, Cranwald, and JuanA, you’d lose your asz. It wouldn’t even be close. I thought you were against calling posters names? You can dish it out but you can’t take it.

I'll compare mano vs. mano, with things we've done to prove that, with Rojo and JA any day of the week.

They have to stagger the arrival times in order to space out the salaries to keep the payroll down. Their plan is as soon as guys maybe want to earn a higher salary, they trade them at the deadline for a couple of A level players. They’ve adopted “The Pirate Way.”
