You'll are dreaming if you were expecting an elite prospect for a rental reliever. If roles were reversed, you'd be screaming if we gave up a guy like Bernal or Mathews for a rental.

The Return for Helsley sucks.

Too Little Too Late

Should have dealt ahead of the season.

Sure, damned if you do, damned if you don't. (bleep)!!!

Not if they approach is Helsley goes to the single best 1 prospect every team has to offer.
Well, that would've been the smart thing to do.

Instead Mo's out here asking for the most enticing A-ball lottery tickets a bonafide closer can buy!
you make my point,thanks
We can sometimes think that future human production is 100% predictable.
Most can't predict what our kids will do.
This is how these trades work, almost all are similar where you don't get top 2's or 3's
for a rental RP. So teams prefer 2 or 3 lottery tickets vs a #6 prospect.

We know that more than the Mets were interested in Hels. The Cards thought this one was best
and perhaps importantly, didn't wait until tomorrow to say yes. IF they got a Svanson or Fermin
that's success. More is gravy. Less they get a shot to see who else can close.

Hard to do any more damage than he’s already done. Just watch a game. This roster is pathetic.

And they might be right. Meanwhile others here will go gaga and tell us how happy they are that Helsley is gone cause we got 45 grade AA pitch to contact pitcher with control issues who will end up needing TJ and that's better than letting him go for nothing.

As someone who has actually scouted two of the three players in this deal(Dohm who I've scouted in person at least 8 times and Elissalt twice) if those two get past AA it would be a surprise though this system isn't full of top pitching prospects so they might fit in.Both are going to end up in the bullpen IF they make it up to the MLB level which is hard to see.

Helsley should have been traded in the winter would have got a better package. Now have to take what you can get at this point.Mo always a day late and a dollar short.
