Joe Maddon. 71 years old and a winning career record.
Managed the Cubs 2006 WS team

Now Maddon wants a team where thr FO lets
him decide who to play in his roster with no interference from th analytics guys on who should play.
Maddon stated I want analytics from those guys but not them telling the manager who to play it not play.
Don’t know if Cardd willing to give that power to their manager.
Maddon knows the game. He would be great with the young guys.
Would a Bloom give that control to a manager ?
Maddon would say to Bloom you give me the roster and then let me play the guys without interference from others in your front office.

Think young guys in rebuild would respect Maddox’s vast knowledge and would like that FO would not override his decisions.
I think fans would like Joe as he has personality .
Would pajama Joe want to manage a rebuild?
I have no idea, but he had success in Tampa, so there's that. And he certainly would be entertaining. But at 71...not so sure he's the guy right now.
Not that concerned on his age .. Terry Francona is 66 and he has Reds playing good ball this year.
Listening to Maddon when he appears with Brian Kenny on his MLB Now show from time to time , Maddon sounds like a guy who wants back in and the main thing is 'if he doesn't get interference from the FO analytical types pressuring him to play the guys who have the better stats. He says Let the manager manage without interference . Yes, he is entertaining and the fanbase would enjoy his humor . He is a good interview type guy for sure . a 180 degree difference than Marmol . I know I would enjoy Joe as Cardinals manager. Think he would be a good motivator for the young guys plus they all know he guided a team to a WS championship so they know he can lead a team to the top.

BDWJr has to sell tickets in 2026!

This isn't a slam on Oli and most of his coaching staff but there's a malaise over them as well as Mo.

Bringing Oli and his staff back means more of the same from the dugout even if C. Bloom and his new front office staff are setting the roster.

In order to excite the fan base and SELL TICKETS, Oli has to be re-assigned (AAA/AA) back to the minor league system where his skills are better utilized developing younger players.

Bloom has to bring in a new Manager.

The roster is the biggest problem.

Agreed. And Oli can be kept in the organization in another role if he so desires. This team needs a jolt of new energy. And at field level, that starts at the top in the dugout and in the clubhouse.

 You people slay me. You believe the roster is massively flawed and has been for several years, yet a manager who to this point has had winning seasons in 3 out of 4 (including to this point this year), who is regarded as a good communicator and teacher, who makes adjustments in the coaching staff when needed, who I’ve not heard any grumbling about from the players, and who engages with the media and fans regularly is seen as expendable. You dolts will be the first to beeotch when he is hired elsewhere and is successful that they cut loose a good young manager. This place is populated by baseball morons who wouldn’t know the first thing about leading a team.

Oli is really packing the fans in with his sedentary style of baseball. And when the GM or POBO changes in baseball, a new manager is kind of the rule, not the exception.

Yep

He's very good a player development, it's where he belongs at Memphis or Springfield.

The franchise needs that "jolt" and hiring the right manager is the first step.

Think of the excitement when Whitey was hired!

And when TLR was hired!

That's what is needed again.

Bloom needs to find that "guy".
