I would expect the best pitcher available.
Bloom develops pitchers, yes?

Feels like a worst case scenario would be:

1.) WAS - SS Eli Wllits
2.) LAA - LHP Kade Anderson
3.) SEA - RHP Seth Hernandez
4.) COL - SS Ethan Holliday

Crav,
Thank you doing these.

It has almost become a consensus with the top 5 now by several of the prognosticators
in what by some of the same people calling it an uncertain draft.

Which team do you think upsets this
LAA?
the Cards?

It would be interesting to know how soon the Cardinals feel Hernandez could make it to the bigs. We are seeing again today how essential a true ace is.

Angels, unless they stick to the Doyle leak from May...which the industry expects them to do.

Mariners? Could go Irish?

Can the Cards upset anything? Sure...but I don't think they'll pull something out of left field with the 20-40th ranked player in the draft.

a Big Stinker like Mozzicati to the Royals in 2021? https://www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/2021 . That draft was underwhelming entering draft night, too.....so anything can happen tonight.

1. Nationals ~ Anderson, LHP, LSU
2. Angels ~ Doyle, LHP, Tennessee
3. Mariners ~ Hernandez, RHP, Corona HS, Calif.
4. Rockies ~ Holliday, SS/3B, Stillwater HS, Okla.
5. Cardinals ~ Willits, SS, Ft. Cobb-Broxton HS, Okla.
6. Pirates ~ Arquette, SS, Oregon St.
^^^THIS^^^

But would love for the Rockies to pass on Matty's boy but they won't, too good a player and marketing opportunity given how popular Matt was in Denver.
Arquette to the Pirates seems way out of the norm for them.
Arnold and Doyle would be the right pick for STL - but if both are gone, I would prefer Arquette over Willits.
Rockies are in a very interesting spot, and it will be interesting to watch.
Since one or more of Anderson, Doyle, Hernandez, or Arnold are guaranteed to be available - that is the group they should choose from.
Which would probably make Holiday available at 5.
That would put the Cardinals in position to take Holiday since the top 4 arms would be off the board.
That said, I do not expect the Rockies to be smart enough to draft pitching if Holiday is on the board.
They will make the PR pick, not the baseball pick.
Very sound reasoning.
Holliday himself MIGHT have upset the top of this draft by his asking price vs what Willits has done
with his asking price. I don't agree with the guess on Arquette as a pick over Willits. If I follow the
reasoning I'd go Irish over Willits.

If it is between Willits or Parker I’m going with Parker. Has enough hit tool and power potential to really develop into a very good third baseman.

[*]Ive said it before and I still believe that Willits would be the worst pick the cardinals could make. I dont believe he will be anything special. I really hope someone takes him before 5.

Seth Hernandez is the one that could be "special". IMO
