If you are one of those people who think Crooks should be traded you are retarded...sorry, but you are. I'd move Walker before Crooks.
I tend to agree... though still in no hurry to trade Walker.
Same, some guys are just late. You see what Jo Adell is doing this year. Took him a few years.
And to another posters point, I agree, Pozo/Crooks in 26 an Bernal in AAA

Excited about Wetherholt along with Crooks/Bernal along with a few pitchers for 2026.
Generally I am hesitant to trade top prospects before they get a look in the majors,
It usually means selling low.
So many lefties...gotta move em
They do have depth in LH bats so it makes sense to deal from that strength.
I’m for dealing anyone as long as the return is strong and fills a need.
Outfield is where the excess is at.
Particularly after STL is finally trying to give Herrera a look there, as I alone have correctly advised for the past 3 years.
One outfield spot needs to feature a RH bat.
Donovan, Scott, Burleson can handle the other 2 - which makes Mootbaar the most expendable.

A) It’s not really “so many” lefties. If the team is healthy 2 of our 3 middle of the order hitters are RH bats. We really don’t have a LH bat to put in the other middle of the order spot. Burleson should bat 6th behind Contreras in a competitive lineup. Lineup is actually pretty balanced if healthy. Right now we aren’t healthy, we’ve been missing one of our big RH bats.
B) It should be a good thing since 75% of the pitchers out there are RHs.

Trade Crooks. Cards have an abundance of LH bats
I think he's one of C. Bloom's trade chips too
I'm not an MLB draft guru, any college (I don't want to wait four years for a HS kid) right handed power hitters we might land at #5?
I don't know either.
I do notice that the league seems over burdened with power hitting lefties
How the [fork] did that happen?
I still pursue Colby Thomas from the A's...and/or Buxton. I'm trading catchers, utility LH hitting infielders or an OFer, or a Catcher
Buxton would be a great target!
Buxton would be terrible 11 years in the majors he’s played 100 games twice and is now 31 so he’s not going to get more healthy as he ages. I never understood people’s obsessions with guys like O’Neil Burton and Robert jr who are never on the field

Agreed, Buxton would be risky. If you’re going for any Twins target it’s Joe Ryan. But he’s going to cost a lot if they even listen on offers.

Buxton is signed till 2029 at a reasonable price
You're right about the health issues, I wasn't aware just how injury prone he is.
But he's got what the Cardinals need being a RHHing OFer w/some pop (2024-2025: .275 .336 .533 .869)!
I wouldn't break the trade chip bank for him but I'd take him for the right price.

I will say his contract is better than I thought it was. But he’s so injury prone and the trade price would probably begin with Bernal or Wetherholt.

No way on either of them, not at his age and w/his injury history.

A right handed hitter with pop is only good if he’s on the field. A majority of the playing time would go to
The fourth fielder when he’s on the IL

Personally, I do not believe the Cardinals make any head turning deals at the deadline. I do not believe you will see any name of notice moved until the off season. That is when the team is going to start working the phones to move guys out of the organization. I see this for some individuals for 2026.
Nootbar - Traded
Contreras - Traded (He will waive NTC)
Gorman - Traded or AAA
Walker - Traded or AAA
These proposals make no sense unless you are suggesting we get better players in return. Who and where?
I believe they will be throw in's for other trades. I forgot Arenado but he too is another I see as being traded. My working theory is that Bloom and Dewitt are going to want to rebrand. Bloom will want to bring some excitement back to the team and reengage the fans. To do that would be to bring in some names that are not necessarily high dollar guys but have ability. This will also include a manager staff shakeup. Gorman and Walker are young but they are certainly not unknown at this point. They need to prove themselves all over and rework their issues. Other teams will see this too and be willing to take a shot. They will at a minimum bring in 3 solid everyday starters for 2026 via trade or free agency. Dewitt is shy to spend big on free agency so trades are the route. If not traded they will be reassigned roles. Contreras is not all that he is made up to be nor are the other guys on this list and as I see it a new GM will want his guys and some immediate results.

Top minor league prospects with a chance to eventually make the team (IMHO):
Wetherholt - LH
Crooks - LH
Bernal - Switch
Yairo Padilla - Switch
Baez - RH
Rainiel Rodriguez - RH
