I can have two mid firsts or a young 24 min linchpin RHD ... this is a no brainer for Montreal.

People need to wake up and accept how difficult it is to acquire the one player type that we need to acquire or else this train ain't leaving the station in the playoffs.
Exactly. A big number be who hasn’t reached his ceiling. Yes please

Well that seems dumb unless he wants out.
Now is as good a time as any to tear it all down and rebuild. They have a ton of draft capital, some more wouldn't hurt.
I would very much disagree that now is a good time to trade Barzal
When would be a good time?

The Isles if they are taking calls seem to think now is the best to reboot the whole thing.

Without a doubt a huge win for Montreal…they give up nothing for a player that is gonna be a cornerstone dman for them for a long time. Darche is desperate to figure out a way to get Hagens…I imagine his phone hasn’t stopped ringing with GM’s trying to take advantage

Oh I don't know, when he is not massively devalued by injury,

How much do you want to pay for a guy that made 9.1 million last year and played 30 games?

He has had 2 80 point seasons the rest in the 50-60's. He is coming off a year that saw him play 30 games. He is paid 9.1 for a position multiple teams are desperate for.

He isn't massively devalued because of the position. If they can maximize return now, just do it, don't wait for him to re-injure and continue to devalue.

Dobson is a fine defenseman, but this is all I think about every time I hear his name after watching the Islanders lose to the Flames in OT last season.
Starting at the 3:45 mark. He skates away from the puck carrier (Kadri) and basically lets him score. I know he is fatigued, but come on!

The problem is they can't maximize the return now....obviously

People are too hung up on the $9.5 mil..that’s just the going rate for dmen like him right now. He’d be worth it for many teams.
Not to mention the fact that RHD's are more valuable.

Sure they can.

He would make an excellent 2nd line center and that is the other position of great demand.

He has a 22 team no trade, so his value that way is already diminished. Might as well cash out while you can.

SO; this means Reinbacher is officially available, right?
Hutson-Dobson
Guhle-Carrier
Xhekaj-Mailloux
Struble

Not really a place for Reinbacher to break the lineup.
Not sure what I'd give up for Reinbacher, but he wouldn't be a bad piece to have.

He wasn’t worth the 5th overall pick and he’s worth less than now that he blew out his knee but it’s not a bad thought. I’d be interested if MTL wanted to move on from him and wasn’t looking for the moon in return.

But not sure how well it’d go over acquiring another RD prospect that blew out his knee. But he did already return from it yet this season at least. Played the last 10 games of the season for Laval and then 13 more playoff games. I didn’t see any of them though so no idea how well he performed so all I can do is stat watch - 5 pts in 10 regular season games and 6 in 13 playoff games. Not bad production for someone jumping straight into N.A. pro hockey after blowing out his ACL…but no idea how he looked defensively, which honestly is much more important IMO.

Not worth $9.5M. He is a solid defenseman, but that is wayyyyy overpaying. He had lofty assist stats one year, then came crashing back to reality. He is a 40-50pt type player moving forward.

Definitely a product of man on man coaching scheme (somewhat common in the NHL) and exhaustion, not a flaw of the player. The goal scorer is not his man on that play.
