"Best fans in baseball." :D :D
What so Dodgers fans and the people of Southern California have to do with this?
You think they’re the best fans in baseball? Why?
It's fairly obvious, Dodgers lead the league in attendance and might get 4 million this year. That's with the highest average ticket prices in the MLB. They have a much greater knowledge of the game, their area produces the most players by far, they have the most fun enjoying the game, support their club to an almost limitless level of spending and ability to get any players they want and players want to play there etc. Southern California is baseball crazy, all three of their teams beat the Cardinals in attendance. Padres are top 3 and the Angels are 11th but usually top 10.

The question should be more like what doesn't make them the best?
1. "Lead the league in attendance and might get 4 million this year. That's with the highest average ticket prices in the MLB." Having the #2 market in the country helps with that.
2. "They have a much greater knowledge of the game." Based on what? Just an opinion?
3. "Their area produces the most players by far." Again, second-largest market in the country will help.
4. "They have the most fun enjoying the game." What the hell does that mean? Based on what? Just another opinion?
5. "...support their club to an almost limitless level of spending and ability to get any players they want and players want to play there etc. Southern California is baseball crazy, all three of their teams beat the Cardinals in attendance. Padres are top 3 and the Angels are 11th but usually top 10." Again, market size.

So to sum up, your argument is "Biggest=Best." Got it.
1. Market size has nothing to do with it. How many great baseball fans live in huge populated cities like Shanghai, Delhi India or Dhahka Bangladesh? Southern California also has 3 team to compensate for that, 4 if you count Las Vegas coming soon. The Dodgers have to share that market with lots of other leagues and teams also. How many pro sports teams in LA? A dozen?

2 Of course the Dodgers fans have a great knowledge of the game, how do you think the team has been so successful and is so well supported? They understand and have the knowledge to be top teir, produce the best results and have the best model, winner of the model franchise award.

3. Kids play baseball in Southern California, part of it is the great weather also, but already covered in number 1. But another reason they have the most knowledgeable fans, those fans all played at some level and get what's going on.

4. If they are playing the game, going to the games, paying big bucks to be entertained by the game obviously they are having the most fun with it. Why else are they doing it?

5. Again, there are multiple teams and multiple leagues, why do the Dodgers stand out so much? Because their fans are the most passionate, care the most, are the most knowledgeable and have the most fun etc.

When you look at the size and how many states and people the region a team can draw from without competitors, Cardinals base is probably bigger than the Dodgers. So biggest doesn't equal best.

OK. So why are you here exactly?
I have to support the home town team. I live less than a mile away from Busch and probably go to more games than any poster here (that doesn't work for the team). I'm still a huge baseball fan and still support the Cardinals. Probably just not as much as the Yankees if they had Goldy and Nado.

Sounds like you have a new favorite team.
Dodgers have always been one of my favorite teams and were for a long time, I grew up in Southern California. I live in St. Louis now so I must root for the St. Louis teams. Until I move of course.

Don't be so certain.

Jorge Soler
Steve Pearce
David Freese
David Eckstein

World Series MVPs. All of them.

It could easily happen to Goldy or Arenado. All it takes is a well timed hot streak.

LOL...in the hunt for a playoff spot and not really that far behind in the division and you post this utter (bleep). Some Cards fan you are. Take your trolling (donkey) somewhere else. The best chance the Cards have of winning is with Arenado at third. Idiot...troll...etc, go to the Cubs board where you belong.

Just look at payroll. That'll tell you all you need to know about the biggest. The Yanks didn't get all those championships because they grew them. Funny how they generally coincide with each other. Upper tier money upper tier championships.

Huh? Free agency didn't even exist until like the mid/late 1970s. Every team grew their own teams. Yanks had dynasty teams in the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. A very strong argument can be made in the reverse. Yanks have had some long droughts in championships since free agency began.

I have a certain obligation to continue to show up and spend some because I asked for Nado and Contreras, I think that's the deal. You ask for players and the team goes out and gets them for you, it's your responsibility to help pay for it and support it. But I won't ever be asking for anymore.

The Yankees were lucky enough to have that AAAA team in KC for years providing them with talent. They also had the money to sign just about any player they wanted. No draft, so all they had to do was have enough scouts to spot the best & then sign them.

NADO from last night:

“As you get older, that’s what you want. You don’t want to play games just to play games. Individually, I’ve accomplished some things in this game and I want to accomplish something team-oriented and special and win a World Series. Games like this, it’s easy to wake up for. This is the most excited [that] I’ve come to the ballpark for – this series – in about two years.”

Not sure he'd approve any trade other than to the Dodgers, he really likes it here and from his statement above you can tell he's having fun.

The bought the best players and also had more farm teams. Just like the Cards at one time had the most farm teams in baseball I think. That's not the case anymore. Babe Ruth started out as a Red Sox player. Went to the Yankees and it became "The house that Ruth built". There were also less teams too. I'm amazed you think money doesn't play.

Big NA fan and glad to read that quote. You’re probably right about him not approving any other trade. Maybe not the popular opinion but I couldn’t care less if we have to wait another year or two for the Nolan Gorman era.
