NHL playoff goaltending, if you were scouting for the best option for your own team and could pick anyone, you'd suspect the league's current best player overall (according to hockey writing pros) or best goalie (according to GMs) would be wise to pick. You can't even trust that. They're voodoo and that's why I never rank them even in my prospect pools against other prospects, I find it meaningless. I don't rank Ellis like I didn't rank Hofer like I didn't rank Husso like I didn't rank Binnington etc.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 16:26 pm A goalie would have to be exceptional for me to consider taking one in the 1st round. Thank you. Me too. We don't really need a goalie. We have prospects at all levels right now and Binner/Hofer are fine. We need a safe pick with a player that is close to being NHL ready. I understand we aren't going to get that with pick 19, but I don't want to make a risky pick after last year.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑20 Jun 2025 16:26 pm A goalie would have to be exceptional for me to consider taking one in the 1st round. To dredge up an olde beer commercial slogan, to Kimzey is say "dilly dilly"! There is no voting, but I would vote for Hensler at RD if a good C [Cootes, Reschny?] are not available. Regardless, it looks like the Blues are gonna have a player we Blues fans can warm up to. Brustewicz is right there with him.
And that's not even mentioning the centers that might be available in our range(Bear(could potentially slip because of the injury), Reschny, Cootes, Kindel, Nesbitt, Gastrin).
There's a lot of directions we could go with our pick that would improve our future prospects. As much as I like Hensler, I'm hesitant to fixate on him.
