Bregman's $80M/2yr remaining at the end of the season has $20M per season deferred 10+ years so it is only worth ~$60M/2yr.
If he has a great season, and he is currently having one, he would be wise to opt out and sign a new longer term deal after his age 31 season.
Then the Red Sox may be looking for a 3B and Arenado is friends with Story. The Green Monster would also be his new friend.
There are rumors he is going to opt out…….
They are enhanced by the stories of the Sox slashing payroll and moving players…
Supposedly……Alex Cora is on the hot seat too..
Even in the event that Boston did want him why would NA want them?
The arms race in the NLW might have a team want him or the one
in the NLE.
My comment has nothing to do with arenado…I don’t know….or care….what happens to him..
My comment is about the chaos that Bregman walked into in Boston….

I’m sure there are a number of teams who would like to have Arenado at 3B.
He is still a plus/plus defender and an above average bat.
But then you have to factor in:
Age
Contract($37M owed 2026/2027!)
Cost in talent to acquire?
*No trade clause!!!!!
Even if they get little in return they might be forced to send more $$ than comfortable with?
In that case might be better to keep him at least for the start of 2026??
Above average bat? His OBP is .304.
Again....opinions vary.
I guess it depends on what constitutes “average”??
The mlb ops is .710 and his is .692
Also he has a 93 ops+
ops+ accounts for park factirs and 100 is automstically average. He was 101 last year and 93 this year. While this yearnisnt complete, theres been a steady decline outside of 2022 so it stands to reason he wont finish above avg and be average at best. My guessnis hebwill be below average still at seasons end.
Theres almost no basis to assert him as above average at this point. Numbers dont lie. You simply are overrating him because of name. His rbi numbers will drop now thathe was moved down lineup. Rbis are a product of batting order
LOL
Sorry for posting my opinion.
