Give the board credit. We called this stretch as a tough one, maybe even a make or break stretch.
3-7. And Cincy is hot.
That's underperforming what was thought.
They are going through a bad stretch.
I hope it turns around today.
Agree. We can beat these teams. Several close games and a blown 7-2 lead.
No Donnie in the lineup hurts. No Walker either, and I cannot believe I just penned that.... WC cannot carry the team alone. Burley is NOT an OFer. Gorman is a bad defender. These things hurt when your offense is lagging. Still, they were completely lifeless last night. They had a day off and should have been ready to play. They need to get it together quickly or they will dig a very big hole. I think the latest blown BP games really deflated them.
3-8 since Walker out. And under .500 with Donovan out.
..and deflated by the blown BP games. They should have beaten Toronto 2 out of 3.... They have to find some way to right the ship while they await the return of Donnie and JW. At least Granillo looked pretty good last night. Small victories.... Noot has vanished. They are short of OF bats anyway at the best of times, but with JW out and Noot AWOL.... not good.
Walkers bat aside, his defense would have stopped several doubles and maybe a triple. And his arm slows the first to third threat. These factors make a difference, prevent runs, allow pitchers to pitch, and we win.
I’m saying his absence has been huge. Now add your best hitter.
Oh I agree. When your offense is struggling, you need pitching and air tight D to stay in close games. Things snowball when you make errors or simply don't make plays that should be made. They went from tight D to this with the injuries. Gorman played matador D with the grounder, and Burley is NOT a good OFer. He is adequate at 1B, but an adventure in the OF. You have to make every play when your offense is running on 3 cylinders, and your BP in on fumes.
Here’s an issue- including the Texas series, we have given up 145 hits in 13 games. I say again- 145 hits. 13 games. 145!
Walks and HBP- 30 ish? That’s 175 baserunners in 13 games. Almost a runner and a half on base for 117 consecutive innings pitched.

No body survives that load.
No, and we threw several games with the BP when we had actually out slugged a team. This team is not bad when everyone is available, but it has absolutely no depth. There are no extra OFers who can hit AND play D. We have no extra BP arms. Gorman can play, but hurts your infield D.... I mean Vilade and Roycroft.. need I say more?

I had thought about a thread, but you got it here. Perfect.you state that this is a good team if the nine pieces are healthy. I agree. You state that of one goes down, we are too fragile to absorb the loss. No quality replacement. No depth.
What the loss of Walker and Donovan has done is prove this idea. If true, we should win again when they return.
