Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
Again, the panel to elect is 16 members and 12 must say yes. The first 16 votes on CT were 14-2 for in.
I’ll start a second 16 now.

Don't really much care.
Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
Put me down as no.
He had to have someone drive her to him.
A third person wrote, “Pete Rose admitted on the record to having sexual relations with a teenage girl during his playing career. She said it began when she was 14 or 15, and he was in his 30s and a married father of two. Hope the Hall of Fame’s character clause keeps him out of Cooperstown.”

Going out of his way chasing a win also is detrimental. Burning up your bully because you bet to win has repurcussions
Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
Has the HOF gotten harder to get into than the ................................. wait JD, I've been warned ........ twice to be exact ......... lol.
I'm not the judge of all what was off the field, Rose was a heck of a player on the field.
In.

As the Mississippi River told the Missouri River, my sediments exactly.
Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
I vote in. There is no way to put Pete in the HOF without telling his story. He is one of the greatest on-field players of all time. never cheated, only bet on his team.
The Ray Fosse play needs to be on loop over his plaque.

I was never impressed w/Pete as a Manager Basil.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:13 am412-373 Managerial Recordrockondlouie wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:00 am In
As a player he's a slam dunk, 1st ballot Hall of Famer and that's what he's going in for not his managing which s u c k e d.
Once the Hall started letting STEROID freaks in, there was no reason to exclude Rose the Player anymore.
All 4 full seasons above .500.
Like Matheny that record was due to the players, not Rose's (or Matheny's) managing acumen.

+1...he's dead, still don’t want him in...and that he only bet on his team to win is bull[shirt]...he [fork]ing lied for 20 years.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:41 amI disagree. I saw the ban as lifetime and his capitulating after 20 years of lies doesn't erase that. He came out to sell his book. Now he's dead, he can be voted inBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:24 amTwisted SBDsikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:17 amIn/outBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:13 am412-373 Managerial Recordrockondlouie wrote: ↑14 May 2025 09:00 am In

He absolutely belongs in. I just don't want him in now because it isn't about honoring Rose, it is about Manfred garnering attention and media hype over a dead legend. This should have been done years ago when Pete could stand up, speak, and atone for his transgressions during a speech on a stage in Cooperstown.
Didn't deserve to see himself make the HOF

I don't believe Pete was every truly sorry for what he did. He knew the rules and intentionally broke them. That said, he should be in the HOF for all of his accomplishments. He never bet against his team. Honor him. He should've been banned from working in an official capacity in MLB, but never prevented from being honored in Cooperstown.

Re: CT poll- Rose in/out
Remember years back when some sports writer penned the 'well he only bet on his team to win .. never proof that he bet on his team to lose ' as justification , another writer had an interesting 'take ' on that
He said , 'So he bet on his team to win games . what about the games he did NOT bet on his own Reds ... Since only the inside gamblers knew when he was placing the bets, what did they think on games he did NOT bet on. Could it be that he didn't for he knew he had a star player who was feeling ill that day . Was he maybe anticipating scratching the starting pitcher who had arm discomfort? Some argued that NOT betting on his team was construed by the gamblers to stay clear of those games in their own bets. ..
An interesting concept . The reason for NO GAMBLING on baseball games .. the integrity of the game. Baseball had the Black Sox scandal in their history . Some younger fans forgot that . It's one thing for fans to bet on sporting events. It's quite another to allow the participants of the game to do so as demonstrated by those White Sox players throwing the World Series games.
