Oli's got to get Bumbles (.689 OPS) in there at all cost.
Gorman/DH
Saggesse/2B
Saggese (.471 .444 .647 1.092) in the #2 hole
I agree. Right now, Saggese would be as good of a choice as any at #2. Burleson at #5 and Contreras at #6.
Sorry shady but Bumbles shouldn't even be in the lineup now that Gorman back and he can DH.
Your guy
Burleson has exactly ZERO (0) Home Runs in his last 195 PA'S!
The only thing is, the Cardinals have had strikeout issues at #2. It's curtailed some potential rallies. Burly usually makes contact. It is perplexing that he doesn't provide more power.
Burleson does indeed have excellent bat-to-ball skills, although starting mid 2024 he's started to swing at way, way too many pitches outside the zone and it's affected his performance.
Right now Saggesse is the OBVIOUS answer in the #2 hole and he should be playing every game w/Winn out (again, what's happened to "Play the Kids"?).
Why Oli continues to fail at lineup construction will be one of the main reasons C. Bloom fires him.
It's seems Burleson has been taking quite a few walks this season. But he needs to produce more power. As do Contreras, Arenado and Walker.
He's not here to draw walks, he's here for extra base hit power.
His .308 xSLG is disturbing.
Please evaluate Contreras', Arenado's and Walker's current slugging.

Not good for sure
But WillyC and NADO are established major league all-stars, Walker one of the top rated prospects while in the minor leagues and only 22 yrs old.
Bumbles turns 27 yrs old at years end, his .400 career slg% is trending in the wrong direction.
He's not an everyday player since he can't hit LHP.
I think he'll be a throw in (via a trade) this winter when he loses Mo/Oli.

Wrong
Walker is at the lowest outside the zone% (27.9%) and swing% (47.4%) of his career
Arenado is slightly above his career norms, but not a career high and not an issue at 32% in outside the zone swing% but his swing% of 46.6% is the lowest of his career
Contreras I will give you though as his 37.9% outside the zone% and 51.3% swing% are career highs. Probably part of why he’s sucked.
But few like swinging the bat as much as Burleson, who’s swung at 44% of the outside the zone pitches and swung the bat 56.4% of the time.
