Sorry shady but Bumbles shouldn't even be in the lineup now that Gorman back and he can DH.Shady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:34 amI agree. Right now, Saggese would be as good of a choice as any at #2. Burleson at #5 and Contreras at #6.rockondlouie wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:31 am Thx duce
Oli's got to get Bumbles (.689 OPS) in there at all cost.
Gorman/DH
Saggesse/2B
Saggese (.471 .444 .647 1.092) in the #2 hole

Your guy Burleson has exactly ZERO (0) Home Runs in his last 195 PA'S!

Re: GDT: Cards vs. Philles (4/13) ~ 1:15pm CDT
The only thing is, the Cardinals have had strikeout issues at #2. It's curtailed some potential rallies. Burly usually makes contact. It is perplexing that he doesn't provide more power. By the way, Contreras and Walker aren't exactly "lighting it up" either. Especially, in power production.rockondlouie wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:41 amSorry shady but Bumbles shouldn't even be in the lineup now that Gorman back and he can DH.Shady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:34 amI agree. Burleson does indeed have excellent bat-to-ball skills, although starting mid 2024 he's started to swing at way, way too many pitches outside the zone and it's affected his performance.
Right now Saggesse is the OBVIOUS answer in the #2 hole and he should be playing every game w/Winn out (again, what's happened to "Play the Kids"?).
Why Oli continues to fail at lineup construction will be one of the main reasons C. Bloom fires him.

It's seems Burleson has been taking quite a few walks this season. But he needs to produce more power. As do Contreras, Arenado and Walker.rockondlouie wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:49 amShady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:45 amThe only thing is, the Cardinals have had strikeout issues at #2. Burleson has three walks this season. That matches his XBH total. Yet Oli thinks he walks on water.Shady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:52 amIt's seems Burleson has been taking quite a few walks this season. Not the fat singles hitter with the 2nd most GDPs on the team and T-7th best OBP in the lineup. The only player with a lower OBP in the lineup is VS2, but at least he can hit for XBHs and has speed.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:51 amAgain, who should be hitting second, (A female canine animal, especially a dog)?

Precisely what I've seen. Wasn't a Burly fan, but after a horrendously unlucky 23, hoped 24 would be better and wow did he look like an All-Star the first half of last year. And then as soon as he hit that 20th HR it was like all the hype clicked in his head or something and ever since, he seems to think he can hit every pitch into the bleachers.rockondlouie wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:49 amShady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:45 amThe only thing is, the Cardinals have had strikeout issues at #2. Not sure I've ever seen such a sharp drop in such a short amount of time.

His chase rate has him in the bottom 10% of MLB, huge problem.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 12:02 pmPrecisely what I've seen. He's not here to draw walks, he's here for extra base hit power.Shady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:52 amIt's seems Burleson has been taking quite a few walks this season. His .308 xSLG is disturbing.

Re: GDT: Cards vs. Philles (4/13) ~ 1:15pm CDT
Strikeouts have been an issue. What has been probably an even bigger issue is the 6 double plays that have been hit into from the 2nd spot, which is DOUBLE the next closest team from that spot and the most of any spot for any team in baseball this season. Burleson and his 2 double plays, which is 2nd on the team, isn’t going to help that. We are 2nd in strikeouts from the 2nd spot and 1st in Double plays hit into. We have 69 PAs from the 2nd spot and have hit into 66 outs. That’s pretty remarkably bad.Shady wrote: ↑13 Apr 2025 11:45 amThe only thing is, the Cardinals have had strikeout issues at #2.
