The team is not fundamentally sound. When it's more than just the same 1-2 guys making mistakes, it is fair to speculate the problem may stem from something deeper.
Mo, marmot, starting staff, cowpen (only a couple of bulls), holes in the line-up, yeah its not just one person or one thing, its rot throughout...but, marmot loses ALOT more games because of his managing than he wins...that is an easy fix.
Who do you replace him with?

My biggest complaint is continuing WC in two hole. Please move him down to 6.
Also gotta get a third base coach. But I’m not sure that’s Oli’s call.

You pull your starter throwing a no hitter and burn your bullpen early in extras.
I legitimately wonder how many more wins the cardinals would have had over the past few years if literally anyone on this forum was the manager instead of Olli.
So he was at 88 pitches. The next 5 pitchers didn’t allow a run? Try harder. This one’s on the offense.
And Pop Warner for sending Siani. That should have been our win right there.
Siani is fast — very fast — but no way should he have been sent in that case. He was out by a lot.

I've been asking his defenders for a couple years, "What does Oli do to WIN games for the team ala Whitey and TLR"?
The answer is absolutely NOTHING.
Worst we've ever been subjected to in St. Louis.

So Cards would have scored runs if Oli left the pitcher in?
What's the complaint here?

I did. 88 pitches. How many do you think he would go this early in the year? Offense sucked.

Oli didn’t help today but I can’t totally blame him for the loss.
He should have let Fedde start the 7th imo. Our bullpen isn’t deep enough to pull SP early and win a lot.
But it wasn’t his fault we didn’t score.
Couldn’t leave Matz in longer. He pitched yesterday and pitched 3 plus innings on 4/5.
Saggese poor baserunning in 9th.
Siani shouldn’t have been sent in 10th.
So imo can’t blame all this one on Oli.
as much as I'd like to pile on Oli cuz I really think he's bad.........
NO ONE PERSON, mgr or player, is ENTIRELY responsible for a given loss
if this were tennis and your favorite player had 14 unforced errors, yes, tennis being an individual sport
but baseball of course is a team sport

As many as it take for him to give up a hit. Wouldn't have been better to have those 5 pitchers later in the game?

Yeah, like he has the same autonomy, not to mention rosters, they had. Get it though your thick skull that, with very few exceptions, the days of Whitey and TLR are long gone in MLB.

Not hardly red baron
I know there's this fallacy Mo and his gang are sending in game moves via an ipad to Oli but you'd have to be thick headed to believe that.
Oli runs the game and he does nothing to create offense.

And Pop Warner for sending Siani. That should have been our win right there.
Pretty rare for a manager to "entirely" win or lose a game.
Yeah Pop gave away an out there.
IMO, IF Saggese had either busted it from 3rd on WC pop up or fell over the guys laying in the path
to home without the ball then this thread doesn't exist.

Yea, that one decision completely changed the inning and game. Instead of 1st and 3rd with 0 outs (which would have significantly increased our chances to score more than 1 run), it became just a runner on 1st with 1 out.

As I remember..
TLR made out a lineup card with the names. Pujols, Edmonds, Rolen, Molina and other very good players
Marmol fills out a line up full of krapp
I’m no fan of the guy, but the poor schmuck is trying to manage garbage…
There is plenty of blame to go around..
