Another loss entirely on Olli
You pull your starter throwing a no hitter and burn your bullpen early in extras.
I legitimately wonder how many more wins the cardinals would have had over the past few years if literally anyone on this forum was the manager instead of Olli.

I thought it was we couldn’t any runs in the first 9 innings.WeWentBlues0819 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 15:02 pm You pull your starter throwing a no hitter and burn your bullpen early in extras.

Still, never seen a manager consistently [fork] up a pitching staff like Olli. It is almost an art form at this point.

Worse than not scoring a run in 9 innings is scoring 1 run in 4 innings with a runner on 2nd & no one out.WeWentBlues0819 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 15:10 pmThat certainly didn't helpCranny wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 15:09 pmI thought it was we couldn’t any runs in the first 9 innings.WeWentBlues0819 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 15:02 pm You pull your starter throwing a no hitter and burn your bullpen early in extras.

So he was at 88 pitches. The next 5 pitchers didn’t allow a run? Try harder. This one’s on the offense.WeWentBlues0819 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 15:02 pm You pull your starter throwing a no hitter and burn your bullpen early in extras.

And Pop Warner for sending Siani. That should have been our win right there.hullie wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:40 pmSo he was at 88 pitches. The next 5 pitchers didn’t allow a run? but it pushes those other pitchers back an extra inning meaning another inning further away from roycroft. He should have just left Matz in for at least two or three innings also instead of just throwing him one just dumb managing and not challenging the interference play just completely dumb managinghullie wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:40 pmSo he was at 88 pitches. It's weird isn't it? The weird lengths some posters go thru to make Oli be wrong when he wasn't...hullie wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:40 pmSo he was at 88 pitches. The next 5 pitchers didn’t allow a run? Re: Another loss entirely on Olli
Saggese owns some responsibility today too. Mark Sweeny was correct in post game analysis when he said Saggese path to the plate needed to be on the 3rd base /foul territory around the two fallen players . Saggese chose to weave around them on the infield side where two other players were moving in toward the errant ball.
Personally, I was surprised that Saggese didn't 'leap over' the two down players. Nothing more than jumping about two feet high to clear them. Then he takes one maybe two steps and dives to home plate.

He should have tripped over then rolen style and got the interference call since he didn’t oli should have challenged itramfandan wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:49 pm Saggese owns some responsibility today too. The Cards scored 1 run. How is that on Oli?Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:51 pmIt’s amazing what lengths some posters to through to defend bad managingscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:47 pmIt's weird isn't it? Poor line up construction with Contreras continually batting second, not challenging the interference play, and giving the game away with the dumb handling of pitchersscoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:53 pmThe Cards scored 1 run. No idea. If the hitting coach is getting all the credit when they are scoring a bunch then he should get some blame when they don’t.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:53 pmThe Cards scored 1 run. Re: Another loss entirely on Olli
And for Saggese taking the wrong route with the two fallen players on the foul line . Analyst Mark Sweeny astutely brought it up in post game studio.. Mark S said , 'Saggesse should be running on the foul side of that pile up to get to the plate NOT to the infield side where two more Buck players were charging in .'Futuregm2 wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 16:43 pmAnd Pop Warner for sending Siani. Re: Another loss entirely on Olli
The team is not fundamentally sound. When it's more than just the same 1-2 guys making mistakes, it is fair to speculate the problem may stem from something deeper.
