After watching yesterday's game, and a certain high arcing, slow arriving throw to second base, it is time to reveal another.
But first, a choice must be made between 2 worthy appellations.
And so, for the first time, I will put it to a vote before the final determination.
Shall it be Eephus Herrera?
Or Hail Mary Herrera?
I am leaning toward the latter but will consider the ballot returns before applying the perfect branding.
Predictably, that is very nice of you.Mr Nice Guy wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 09:45 amThe Paper Tyler was pretty good. It's both a play on paper tiger:

a person or thing that appears threatening but is ineffectual.
I also feel like Yad-I is pretty accurate for Molina's attitude his last few seasons (and I say that as a person who was a huge Yadi fan until his attitude became grating me at the end of his career)
Good one.

I like it.
Of course, "rope" or "laser" could refer to a line drive, which runs the risk of diverting attention away from the intended meaning.
Could be a bit problematic.

I think Melville may be waiting for Crooks next year and just doesn't wanna see The Iváninator at catcher long term.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:23 pmI think our LFer is doing just fine. And you just hate that.Melville wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 13:27 pm"The kid can hit."

Indeed.Melville wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 13:00 pmEephus was the first word which occured to me at the time of the throw (the latest of many) and it neatly replaced "Ivan".WeeVikes wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 11:42 amIt’s only and always about the game.Melville wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 08:48 am For several years I have provided perfect branding to many Cardinal players and executives, to explain and capture the key to understanding the role each played.

In this case, however, I’m discussing baseball, therefore “Eephus” is the correct term in my mind.
You make a great point that from a baseball perspective the word is most appropriate
But given how low Herrera' success rate is, "Hail Mary" is also fitting
And given how long the middle infielders patiently wait for the ball to arrive, "hang time" is darn funny!
Going to be a difficult decision
Actually, I am glad to see it.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:23 pmI think our LFer is doing just fine. And you just hate that.Melville wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 13:27 pm"The kid can hit."

He's entertaining and knows how to get people to respond...I'm assuming he's enjoying the attention and was bored and knew he would get a few people (upset)...no different than the front office (donkey) kissers who constantly respond to every slight of DeTwit and Mo-ran.Wattage wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 13:47 pmMehlville is most definitely someones elses fake account where they have fun trolling the people missing the obvious parodyWLTFE wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 09:04 amPeople take you waaay to [fork]ing seriously.. and you know what is coming..and I'm betting you'll enjoy every whiney reply!Melville wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 08:48 am For several years I have provided perfect branding to many Cardinal players and executives, to explain and capture the key to understanding the role each played.
