Can't legislate morality.
The fact that the pro teams spent a fortune on ads to get this passed shows that they are all in on profiteering any way they can.
It would be irresponsible not to.
It still baffles me when folks are shocked/outraged/disgusted when professional sports team owners make moves to increase profits. They will always choose that path, or they will be replaced.
The range of emotion this brings out in people is interesting, and is all agenda filling.

We should want the Cardinals to do well with revenues. I'd suggest that they went too long
with counting on ticket sales, thinking they were doing good enough. The Cardinals, and most teams,
spend to their margins and that's it.

Good business knows what drives revenue is a product that is desired. Zero reason to think Bill does not care
about people wanting his product. More people gamble on if they have interest.

My great grandparents could gamble on anything they wanted to or not nothing new.
Why do we think it's dirty now or will "hurt poor people" more likely to hurt middle income.

Does anybody know the dollar value to STL Cardinals, via the partnership with Bet365?

Are the other professional sports leagues shying away from promoting gambling? Oh, no, no they are not

Every major (and most non-major) N American sports leagues are now in bed with gambling interests. And if every major N American sports franchise doesn't already have a direct deal in place, you can bet (see what I did there?) they are currently in negotiations to get one.

So, why specifically call out Cardinals ownership and not just blanket the entire sports industry as a whole?

As of Monday, bet365 is the official mobile sports betting partner of the team. The financial terms and length of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are thrilled to welcome bet365 as the club’s official mobile sports betting partner,” team President Bill DeWitt III said in a statement. “This partnership adds a new and exciting element to the fan experience which can be activated at Busch Stadium or any place that fans watch and follow Cardinals baseball.”

Bet365 will have advertising throughout Busch Stadium as well as on the radio and online. An all-inclusive section of the park will now be known as the bet365 bridge.

The company said it was “excited to bring a world class mobile sports betting experience to the Show-Me State.”

Yawn.
Why yawn? More revenue, higher payroll, better players right?

Yeah right!!!

What we heard when they pimped the New Stadium, Last TV Deal, Ballpark Village etc etc etc.

We won't see a nickel of it pumped into player assets.
This - they’ll pocket every last cent of it just as we predicted before sports gambling was legalized.
Decreases in operating revenue require immediate action, sometimes before the decrease is even realized (withholding payroll due to possible issues with Bally deal & the possibility of waning fan interest in '25). Increases require a wait & see approach. It's the new "Cardinal Way"

I mean they have to make sure they're going to see as much increase in revenue as they anticipated before they can add anything. But if there's even an inkling that something might not bring in what they hoped they have to slash payroll immediately.

And this proves what, that they are equally hypocritical or equally stupid greedy?

It proves they need to keep up bc other sports are competition. It’s not greed, necessarily. It’s the need to stay relevant
