It really isn’t. Prospects ranked outside of their teams top Five are rarely expected to become franchise changers.

Meanwhile trading Leahy becomes a gift to some contender who probably doesn’t deserve him and takes him out of whatever future window we should be creating this decade and creates another big hole.

If you can trade him for an established Young All-Star like Jim Edmonds or Edgar Renteria- then that’s another question and it might be interesting, especially if we think we can sell high and by low.

Closest comp to Edmonds age production wise that I could think of is Austin Riley or Gunnar Henderson. But I don’t think either has fallen enough out o favor yet and Riley’s has been a gradual decline that has picked up quicker over the last year.

That's an interesting comparison to Gunnar Henderson because Edmonds really was on the outs in Anaheim when we made that deal, due to both injuries and perceived attitude issues. I'd love to see a Henderson deal.

Yea, it’s hard to compare to Edmonds because of the perceived attitude part. Given Gunnar’s talent level and potential position impact, I think he could be an interesting player to watch for us over the next few years. I think he’s a FA after 2028, which would also line up with when maybe we’re ready to make that leap and I think he could be moved to 3B, which to me is a position we will be looking for, or stick at SS. I will say his EV has dropped off a decent amount this year that could put up some yellow flags at least. His average EV this year is 89.4 mph, the last 4 years it was over 92.
