Please. He is a petulant whiny man child and his voice makes him think he sounds scary. I imagine you like him more because you share his insane beliefs and fears.

Drinking game: drink whenever dave talks about Metallica. Do a shot whenever he talks about James. Do two shots whenever he talks about Lars. Slam a beer whenever he talks about his writing credits. Do three shots whenever he says that Kirk doesn’t perform his solos as good as him. Drink a whole bottle of hard liquor whenever he mentions doing Kirks girlfriend.

Each have their own tastes. Just cuz you can like lima beans, okra or Elton John will have no bearing on my tastes. Re: Mustaine so what? I like Megadeth, I like RATM and am nowhere near their lyrical beliefs... I like Metallica (earlier the better 4 me). I like Elvis, BB King, yada yada, yoda, the force is with me... who cares, I enjoy what I enjoy and your tastes and comments are like farts in the wind, and the wind cries mary.

Lol, very well said. Im yuuuuge into music i listen to a ton of stuff as diverse as possible there is no right or wrong. Ive had eras where i was into metal i still listen to metal adjacent more or less. I like Russian Circles. Interestingly i listen to a lot of progressive blue grass it reminds me of metal lol.

I’ve been to about a half dozen Megadeth shows and 3 or 4 Metallica shows and am a fan of both bands. The worst Megadeth show is better than the best Metallica show.

I disagree. I saw a Megadeth In St Louis way back in 86 when they opened for Alice cooper. Saw them again at the Aragon Brawlroom in Chicago the late '80s. Forgot who they were with on that tour.

That said, David Mustaine's voice is one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life. I could tolerate them when I was young and pretty much liked anything that was over 200 beats per minute and certainly appreciate the guitar work of Chris Poland and Marty Friedman but that's about the extent of it. Metallica blows them away and Slayer blows both of those away

My biggest problem with Metallica shows is that they’re always in large stadiums, which makes for a very cookie cutter and stale experience. On the other hand, in my younger days, I’d show up many hours before doors opened with a GA ticket and end up standing 3 feet from Megadeth, right at the stage.

Any Phish fans here. That sentence alone can start wars... they have been on an absolute heater, 5 night run at MSG, monster rock shows. Love them or hate them youd be hard pressed to find too many more live rock acts doing it better. Im not a "Phish head" really ive seen them probably a dozen times since '92 at Mississippi Nights including a show at MSG a few years ago. Its one thing to disregard their set but if you find yourself on the floor at a Phish show you may change your mind.

Also, currently today there is no better guitarist that Billy Strings check him out on an electric guitar mind blowing, technically amazing, plays old school sometimes reminds me of Derek and the Dominoes era, he just shreds. Also a fun show

Every time Primus would come on stage my ribs literally felt like they were going to be ripped from my chest and shot out of my back because of the incredible tightness of Les Claypool and John Hoffman. Every Beat was like a sledgehammer. I was there mainly for a perfect circle but all three of those bands were incredible

The Megadeth stuff is much catchier with vastly superior musicianship for me. I am now listening to more blues, shout out to Stl's own Mike Zito. The thrash band that I just don't get is Anthrax. John Bush couldn't even save those clowns.

Harry, I really enjoy some progressive metal like Fates Warning, Symphony X, ect. Please give me a suggestion or two to start a journey down this progressive blue grass path of which you speak? The closest thing I have to that in my collection is some of the early Steve Morse and Johnny Hiland instrumental stuff. Thanks!

Kitchen Dwellers (jammy, see above PF - lite)
Keller William (kinda like Zappa)
Sam Bush (mayor of Telluride, from KY, Cards fan, wide ranging show)
Yonder Mountain String Band (just a great live band, seen some really incredible shows really skilled)

Never liked Primus, but sure as hell respect the musicianship. I saw them 4-5 years ago when they played the Rush album and it blew me away how good they were.

I grew up in VT and have heard some pretty crazy stories about their early days. Playing parties and Club Toast, etc. Never was a fan but gotta respect my homies

Claypool tried out for and was rejected by Metallica after Cliff Burton died. Interesting but of Trivia there.

Once upon a time I believed Maynard to be the reason Tool didn't put out more albums but history has changed my view of that. Maynard has put out countless other albums and tours with his other bands while Tool at this point has kind of become lame as they release one album per decade just about. Clearer now that the culprit for that situation is Adam Jones, not Maynard.
