If you're a highly skilled RFA, you would be an idiot to sign a deal before you become eligible for offers. These guys are finding their true market value.

Hahaha. What about McDavid? With his friendly 12 mil per???
He very purposely took less to give Edmonton money to spend on players around him (which Edmonton then wasted of course). Maybe he goes for top dollar next time around though.
Oh I know. Just wondering if HE’S now second guessing that decision

I know he's a ppg center but sure seems nuts to me.

The player, the AAV, the term and the cost to acquire.
The cost to acquire is very doable for the Flyers . They are loaded with quality prospects. They are taking the next step.

Better them than us.

Makes McTavish's 7 mil seem paltry by comparison. 8)

Ducks will match. No way they will let their franchise center walk

If you are going all in as they are why only 5 years? The cost to acquire could have been much less and if they were hedging it makes even less sense.

This is a great deal for Carlson I don't know about the other party's.

Because Leo sees a much bigger contract when he’s only 26.

It's the perfect time to do so, especially for teams who aren't even at the cap floor. Cap going up so much the next several years, people will be blindsided like this. Guerin foresaw this with Kaprizov, whose contract won't look as crazy now.

Ya I get that but there's the other side. 18 friggen mil I bet Philly could have gotten more years if they really pushed it.
