From what I remember neither team had their top lineup inserted but the USA didn't look that great when they lost to Turkey 2-1
Beats me, just know that USMNT were the group betting favorites. Turkiye is still somehow considered a dark horse, which I assume is because of a semifinal finish in the 2008 Euros.
Turkiye has been eliminated.
So the game at 9:00 pm on Thursday is a friendly?
The only thing Turkiye can play for is pride. USMNT is playing on July 1st against TBD in the Round of 32.

Curious to see how Poch plays this.
Love watching the matches, don't pay much attention to the rules of the tournament. Seems strange for a team that's winning to have to play a meaningless game, risking injuries.
It's actually seen as an honor and a reward to get the opportunity. Argentina, Mexico and Germany have all put themselves in the same situation.

Go ask England if they would have rather had a win today with a meaningless game next, or have to play a game now where a loss could see them finish third.
I'll add that it's fairly common to see in international, team competitions which involves pool play.

Can’t just cancel the last game.
