I completely agree with you. I doubt it as well. However, Army said that he feels that we can trade up into the TOP5.... So maybe he knows something, or maybe it is part of some larger deal (e.g. Thomas).

I'm a heat-seeking missile for a TOP5 pick. Once I'm lit, I can't help myself.
Fortunately for us, your missile’s a dud. :)
Dud? It didn't even get out of the chamber!
Touchè on the chamber bay!

IF they are going to try to move up, I hope it’s with the intention of snaggin one of Carels, Smits, or Rudolph the Bluenosed Reindeer.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.

I've thought about this more. Army generally scoffs at TOP5 picks, and typically it's the last thing that he would ever choose to discuss. But here we are. He is bringing it up, and dangling the topic like a carrot in front of our noses.

What does this tell us? It tells us the Army feels very much in need of something that only a TOP5 pick would bring in. My guess is that Army want's to bring in a piece of the "new core". Since he hasn't gone far enough yet with jettisoning the "old core", my guess is that to move up in the draft, Army will

In the draft pick exchange....Army will send away:
-Picks 11 and 15
-A piece of the old core.. (Maybe Thomas, Maybe Kyrou, Maybe Both)

I heard the Blues are offering the #11 and #15 draft picks for a proper block list for this forum. That seems a pipe dream.

I would try to get Ethan Belchetz and Daxon Rudolph if at all possible. Those two seem like realistic targets for us based on a lot of mock drafts and I would sacrifice the rest of the draft capital to get them. Cullen would be my consolation prize if we can't get either of the above two.

Sometimes I like to post useless garbage in He Who Cannot Be Named’s Threads just because I know he will waste his time reading every word of junk like this. Since I’ll never see any of his comments, his responses are useless.

Rudolph seems like the most plausible target to move up for. See if you can swing a deal with a team like Florida or Seattle.

Honestly, I’m only offering 11 and 15 or 11 and parayko to move up to #2. Anything more than that would be silly. I don’t know that sj takes that, but oh well. There are a few guys who have a lot of helium at the moment. If someone like Cullen, Preston, or dagenais rise up in the top ten.. we will be able to land one of the defenseman. But I’m okay taking Cullen at 11. There are some good talent available 10-30. We may not hit on all of them, but I’m pretty confident they can hit on 1 of the 3 picks. Everyone thinks we need to move up, but hell we’ve only drafted in the top 10 once in the last 20-25yrs. We can snag a great player with our own picks.

My dream scenario would be..
Rudolph falls to 11, Cullen makes it to 15, and dagenais gets into a bar fight a week before the draft and comes off the board at 31 lol

I predict they will move up from 11 to get Bjork or Rudolf. They should be able to move up a couple spots by adding a 3rd to the 15th, but may not need to if either of them drop. Bjork fits a need and is probably their best chance to get a high end player.

Thanks everyone for comments. Interesting to hear what people think about who the Blues are targeting if they can swing it.

Completely agree with this.I think (hope) Bjork is the player they're targeting. He won't make it until 11, but hoping that last 1st round pick or one of the 3rd rounds gives them a chance to move up. I think he's going to be the steal of the draft, unless he goes top 5, which would indicate other teams see his potential.

Viggo Bjorck scares me. Sorry but small doesn't seem to translate too well to NHL hockey. I would like us to avoid the Hrkac Circus part two.

I believe the Blues will target the 9th pick. Player? The one who falls to 9.

Are you saying the 11th + 15th plus a 3rd?

Or

15th plus a 3rd?

If just the 3rd rounder added to the 15, that’d maybe get you to 14. But it would likely have to be some sort of defensive maneuver to block another team to bother doing that.

11 + 15 + a 3rd would technically hold the approx value of the 4th overall…BUT, I’ve never ever seen a team trade down that far. It just doesn’t happen in real life.

Based on that chart 11 + 31 gets you to 7. I would think Bjork would be available at 7, but you never know. Rudolf may be available at 7 as well.
