When i WAS 16 I could throw fairly hard and hit a guy right in the forehead. We did not wear helmets in those days, I believe it was 1964. Kid turned into the pitch, you are taught to turn away from inside stuff. The ball bounced off his head over the backstop across a highway and into someone's yard. My legs turned to jelly watching him twitch on the ground. He sat up, went to first and stayed in the game. I had to come out of the game. That was a learning experience for me.

I was playing little league in 1970 or 1971. A VERY live arm threw a pitch and hit my cousin in the temple. He laid on the ground for several minutes. They finally got him up and told him to go to first base. He walked to third base. They redirected him to first base but he was glassy eyed for the rest of the game. (probably a concussion?).

I don't doubt it. Only time I got hit by a pitch was right in the keester, it left a mark in the form of baseball seams for over a month.
