Wouldn't a Mizzou/SLU matchup in the NCAA Tournament be fun?

Got an opinion about the Tigers? Let's hear it.

I graduated college in Springfield many moons ago. I live in the Lou.

I have always been a Mizzou fan on the big stage...first and foremost. Of course I have, it's my state. It's my home.

I do have historical ties to SLU but more importantly they are a team in my city, wearing the name of my city on their jersey. It is my home.

Zero problem cheering them both on.

And to your point and to be fair, I'm sure there are some St Louis SLU fans who do not support Missouri....to their discredit.

Both these camps are missing out imo.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking you'd have a hard time finding a UK fan in Louisville who doesn't hate Louisville.

Now, I don't hate the Billikens, I just don't have much respect for them. They're an afterthought for me. They don't play anybody! They just beat down a 6-19 team last night. Try finding a team like that in the SEC at this point in the season. They won't play a ranked team all season. Now give them Missouri's schedule -- including Illinois, KU, Florida, Bama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arky, A&M, Vandy, etc. -- and I'm guessing they'd go .500 at best against those teams, probably a lot worse. They lost to the only P5 team they played -- Stanford at 69 in the NET. We will have no idea how good they are until the NCAAT.

I think it would be fun, and Mizzou would likely be favored. I remember when SLU had a great 3 point shooting team with Erwin Claggett, Scott Highmark, and H Waldman. I saw them play a few games live at the Enterprise Center back in '94 and they were very exciting. They made the NCAA Tournament that year as a #6 seed and did win their first game, but lost to #3 seed Kansas in the second round.

No. 100% expected for Mizzou to win that game so zero praise or respect for a win and a minimum of a full year of ridicule for a loss.

Don’t think Mizzou is getting in the tournament.

In 1994 SLU was a 7-seed and lost in the first round to Maryland.

But for all your handwringing, Shady's point remains...wouldn't it be fun? And we could all use a little bit of that.

We?

I think I know how good they are because I watch them play and I watch them being coached. It's a team full of rotating hero's.

As everyone knows the Tourney is full of upsets but I think SLU is ranked just about right, at a minimum.

Most SEC teams could score 90 + points a game against that Billikens schedule. Playing a bunch of nobodies proves nothing.

My bad - you are right. It was the '95 tourney that they won their first game, beating Minnesota, but then lost to Wake Forest in their next game.

Well the Bills average 91 pts a game so I guess that puts them with most SEC teams.

I'm certainly not arguing about their strength of schedule.

Where do you think the Bills should be ranked, just curious.

For me, a Mizzou fan, no.

It would be like going to Las Vegas and placing a bet where if you lose, you lose what you bet and if you win, you only get what you bet back. I don’t consider that fun. Relief? Possibly, but not fun.

Your memory fails you. There were 13,142 at sold-out Hearnes Center on 12-9-2000.
That's definitely a possibility. CMS zucks, but I was there & it didn't look full to me. Maybe it was one of those games where the AD jacked up the numbers.

Funny line by one of the commentators. There were so few fans at RI (15-11, 6/7) that the "court storm" looked more like a "court drizzle".
