Wouldn't a Mizzou/SLU matchup in the NCAA Tournament be fun?

Could that be a possibility in St Louis in the first and second rounds?

I for one, as a fan of both teams, would not like that.

I would fully support an annual game between the two.

Problem is, most years that matchup would be house money for SLU and nothing to gain for Mizzou. This year obviously is an outlier.

Agree with this. I don't want to see either team exit the tourney early because they played each other.

Well, Mizzou's OOC schedule could use a little more excitement. Right now it's Illinois, Kansas, and a long string of cream puffs. I'll take an annual matchup vs. SLU.

Not positive what you mean but are you talking money or something along the lines of lack of prestige in SLU?

They can split the gate or do home/home and it's even money right? Should be sell outs.

So Missouri won't give SLU the chance to beat them? But they'll give that to Howard or Prairie View? I get this it's just parochial nonsense to me.

And btw if Schertz sticks around this is likely no more an outlier team, imo.

I'm not sure what Schertz' contract situation is with SLU. But his team is having the kind of season at the mid D1 level that often results in some higher level schools making offers.

At this point, it is seeming more unlikely that this could happen in the first round. Mizzou, probably is in as an 11, but if they win the games they should win down the stretch and into the conf tourney, they likely play into an 8 to 10...Slu looking like a 5 or 6 at this point and if they don't lose, 3-4 seed.

Yes I agree, with a caveat......Missouri has what ....3 ranked teams and 4 ranked games left?

Win them all baby and what's their seed?

hahaha......that is why they play the games right?

I'm watching one team who I don't want to slip up and another team I really want to slip every one up.

House money being a casino reference.

It makes no sense for Mizzou to play SLU. Most years you gain nothing in beating them and risk much in playing a motivated team. The same reason that kU avoided playing Mizzou for years.

I would rather they be in opposite brackets. Heck, I am just hoping Mizzou gets in at this point.

oh if they won out or close to it, mizzou could play into as much as a 3 or 4 but being real...prolly not.

Last time there was a series I believe it was one game at whatever the name of the current Enterprise Center was, one game at The Dome & one at Mizzou Arena. Pretty good crowds at both STL venues & a half full Mizzou Arena. Mizzou fans in STL went to the STL games, but not only did Mizzou fans not have much interest in seeing SLU in CoMo, but hardly any SLU fans traveled to CoMo. (Probably more SLU would have attended a game in CoMo this year sensing a chance to win.) A series that would have SLU hosting at 10,000 seat Chaifetz Center makes even less sense.
SLU has another tough A-10 test tonight vs Loyola on ESPN2. SLU is good, but who knows how good since their SOS.

I'll never understand the dislike for SLU by Mizzou fans in St. Louis.

Your memory fails you. There were 13,142 at sold-out Hearnes Center on 12-9-2000.
