Just 66 wins are projected.
I'm sure you've seen this.
We have some on here that are clouded into thinking this team is better than last year.
I think that is 2nd worst projected, just ahead of Colorado.
But, according to Bloom, we are going to be competitive in 2026?

How horrible for you.

I hope you're seeing a professional to work thru this painful moment.

PECOTA predictions
Projections, not predictions. They don't have a crystal ball.

Pecota projects the Cards have one chance in 500 in making the playoffs, so there's that.

At a glance BP's rankings match up well with Fangraphs'. That's not surprising since they're using the same inputs and essentially the same methodology but it's a nice sanity check that their system hasn't gone nuts.

Nice to know that PECOTA projects 66 wins this year. At least , I don't have to watch the Cardinals losing 100 games on TV. Whew ! :D

I don't blame any projections this year... this offense has a huge delta of possible outcomes. The pitching has a relatively high floor of like 5-6 runs/game at worst, but the offense could be absolutely putrid if e.g. Walker/Gorman/Scott still suck, and maybe JJ scuffles a bit more than expected.

Just way too many question marks. Too many unproven pitchers. Too weak of an offense. They may not be figuring in the impact of a Wetherholt but he might be good enough to get them close to 70 wins, but then again, if he fails...ugh! If things go right maybe they look at 70ish wins, but if things go wrong it could be a historic season.

Well, there's some on here who think this team will finish .500, to us realists that seems like some strong kool-aid.

You’re in good company—after the Donovan trade, the O/U lines are down -2 wins:

O/U (previous)
Draftkings: 69.5 (71.5)
Caesars: 70.5 (72.5)
Rivers: 69.5 (71.5)

I’d worry more about these odds than Pecota. These dudes know their stuff.

Why do you care? Would 77 make you feel better? What about 81? Would that make you feel like a winner? Get a different hobby if you can’t deal wit th a few down years.
Bully is a charter member of the short attention span club. They are only interested with the 2026 MLB W/L record. Nothing else matters, except the 2026 MLB payroll. Any number below $170M will result in extreme outrage and wailing about DeWallet.

The new regime's cleanup and reinvestment in development means zero to this bunch. We may need to call the waaambulance.
If pectoa had predicted them for 82 wins he would be saying it’s stupid and pointing out the truth that pecota is frequently wrong. But since it aligns with something he believes he references it like well pecota said they will win 66 games that’s how many games they will win

People can think over they want. I don't care one way or the other if they think the team is better or worse.

My point is that a bunch of people who usually (bleep) on these kind of projections when they are halfway decent all of a sudden are now touting them because they are bad.

It's possible to compete and still lose 96 games. I don't care if it's 66 wins or 72: It's still a lot. ::crazya::

PECOTA has almost always been wrong on the Cardinals

I've ignored their lame predictions for years.

BIG time take the over

They seem pretty close the last 2 years.
