Shady wrote: 10 Feb 2026 14:33 pm The way some of you are talking, you'd rather have Baez starting in RF than Walker, right now. Is that correct?
No, because Baez isn't ready yet.
Walker is less so.
So, right now, do the Cardinals have any current outfielders that are actually ready to be high level MLB hitters?
High level? No we don't.
well, our best outfielder is Noot and he is hurt and even he isn't a high level hitter

Could Rainiel Rodriguez end up being a better hitter than Page's?
Could Bloom end up being a better G.M. than Mo?
Could Dustin May end up being a better pitcher than Gray?

COULD SHADY END UP BEING THE WORST POSTER IN CARDS TALK HISTORY?
There is your attention for the day. Please enjoy it slowly.

We don't have a single hitter on the team that is "high level". High level is perennial all star. We don't have a single all star after the donnie trade
Yeah, I thought that was a given. Shoot, the Cardinals have had an OF issue for years.
Getting an outfielder that is pretty close to being a productive MLB outfielder is something Bloom probably could have done a better job at with all his off season deals.
I suppose that depends on whether any were available for a price he was willing to pay and whether getting one fit in the timeline of the rebuild, but that’s just stating the obvious. I’m not going to be disappointed in him just yet for not having done so.

Walker is on the clock for 2026.
I like the potential for Scott(tools).
Noot to me is a tease and is also on the clock.
Herrera could certainly wind up getting a look in LF with multiple Catchers on the way.
Josh Baez could certainly figure prominently ST 2027 if he puts another strong season together.
With the pitching depth in the system the Cards could certainly line up in a deal for a hitter(s).

What kind of defensive outfielder could Herrera be in LF? His offense would be very good for a corner outfielder.

He already is.
100% what I was going to write. Baez also has that fire in him that I love.

Only one way to find out?
It’s not like they have to throw him to the wolves out there.

And he's always hurt. Usually for something stupid like falling off the dugout rail.

A nice hype video - I didn't realize Baez had improved so much last season.
Whetherholt mentioned the ball flys way furhter in AAA, so it'll be interesting to see if Baez's power numbers continue to climb. 54 steals last year, too? That's incredible.

Baez does seem very athletic for his size.
