I think most Cardinal fans have no ill will towards him (this isn't directed at anyone on the board), I'm just speaking my mind.
I wish him well, provided it is not against us. I am just glad it is not the Cardinals that are taking a chance on him.

However, I think True Cardinals Fans don't quite feel so charitable about Mikolas. Like his biggest cheerleader and sugar daddy (Mo), he was cocky beyond his level of success, he made excuses for his failure-sometimes at the expense of others, and he was just kind of a jerk. I don't hope for a safe to fall on him or anything horrible like that.

However, I think it is time to take his song and dance back to Japan, where they seem to find his antics amusing.
Fedde - Decent chap, just had the league catch back up to him. Hope he succeeds.
Mikolas - Jerk whom I hope he exiles himself back to Japan.
In any case, it just goes to show you, if your stuff is shaky to begin with, a stint in Japan, developing some pitches, not having your repetoire exposed to the league regularly can help you have more success when you get back. But, unless you have unlocked another level of raw talent, you are at risk of eventually being exposed again.
Mikolas was lucky. He was Mo's pet project. He was Mo's, "I am the smartest man in the room" brag. Instead of pocketing Mikolas' 2018 success and seeing if he could come close to repeating it in 2019, Mo rushed to call him the next big thing and threw him a 4 year extension he hadn't shown that he should get yet. As Mikolas' hype man, he regaled the press and fans, telling us what a great deal for everyone this was for such a quality arm.
The wheels then started to fall off in 2019 and completely fell off in 2020 and most of 2021. He was finally healthy again in 2022 and had a strong season. So, he is signed through the end of 2023. Did Mozo the Clown learn the lesson of the 1st extension, like any normal person would have? No, a solid 2022 was all Mikolas' hype man needed. He somehow sweet-talked Grandpa Dewitt into ponying up an extra 2 seasons past 2023 and regaled the fans with what a great success it was.'
Despite having a mediocre 2023, Mikolas having an approving father figure--MO--validating him with hordes of cash and praise, decided to get frisky and dogged the Dodgers on their financial strategy. Of course, dopey laid an egg in 2024, while the Dodgers carried off the WS trophie.

Anyway, good riddance and go back to Japan for Mikolas Mouse. Fedde? I hope he finds success.
