It will be interesting to see what he signs for. Probably more than MLB minimum but I doubt anything North of $2 million.

And a great ballpark to watch a baseball game for blue collar fans. Kind of like Busch II.govman wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 13:14 pmwhich they share with a leam with dedicated fans and a recent WSScotchMIrish wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 11:48 amLOL - he will provide depth likely at a bargain price. Re: White Sox to sign Fedde pending a physical
I think most Cardinal fans have no ill will towards him (this isn't directed at anyone on the board), I'm just speaking my mind.
I wish him well, provided it is not against us. I am just glad it is not the Cardinals that are taking a chance on him.
--
However, I think True Cardinals Fans don't quite feel so charitable about Mikolas. Like his biggest cheerleader and sugar daddy (Mo), he was cocky beyond his level of success, he made excuses for his failure-sometimes at the expense of others, and he was just kind of a jerk. I don't hope for a safe to fall on him or anything horrible like that.
However, I think it is time to take his song and dance back to Japan, where they seem to find his antics amusing.
Fedde - Decent chap, just had the league catch back up to him. Hope he succeeds.
Mikolas - Jerk whom I hope he exiles himself back to Japan.
In any case, it just goes to show you, if your stuff is shaky to begin with, a stint in Japan, developing some pitches, not having your repetoire exposed to the league regularly can help you have more success when you get back. But, unless you have unlocked another level of raw talent, you are at risk of eventually being exposed again.
Mikolas was lucky. He was Mo's pet project. He was Mo's, "I am the smartest man in the room" brag. Instead of pocketing Mikolas' 2018 success and seeing if he could come close to repeating it in 2019, Mo rushed to call him the next big thing and threw him a 4 year extension he hadn't shown that he should get yet. As Mikolas' hype man, he regaled the press and fans, telling us what a great deal for everyone this was for such a quality arm.
The wheels then started to fall off in 2019 and completely fell off in 2020 and most of 2021. He was finally healthy again in 2022 and had a strong season. So, he is signed through the end of 2023. Did Mozo the Clown learn the lesson of the 1st extension, like any normal person would have? No, a solid 2022 was all Mikolas' hype man needed. He somehow sweet-talked Grandpa Dewitt into ponying up an extra 2 seasons past 2023 and regaled the fans with what a great success it was.'
Despite having a mediocre 2023, Mikolas having an approving father figure--MO--validating him with hordes of cash and praise, decided to get frisky and dogged the Dodgers on their financial strategy. Of course, dopey laid an egg in 2024, while the Dodgers carried off the WS trophie.

Anyway, good riddance and go back to Japan for Mikolas Mouse. Fedde? I hope he finds success.

I could tolerate Fedde. He sucked, but at least he owned that he sucked. I do truly think he tried to get into a better position, but he just doesn't have the stuff that plays anymore. He doesn't throw hard. He doesn't have any breaking pitch that defies physics. He's a player that probably would've had a decent career if he started 15-20 years ago. Still, he owned how bad he was. I don't remember him saying "I was only three good pitches away from a gem" like Mikolas routinely did when he'd struggle to go five. Erick wasn't a wind-up merchant who would give some DUMB DUMB DUMB quote to gas up the other team's tank like Mikolas routinely did against LA and Chicago. Erick seemed like a decent fellow who fell on bad times. There but for grace go I, you know?
Mikolas...you're right. Couldn't care less if he got coyote'd by the roadrunner.

On the other hand, the Cardinals are loaded with young arms. Good position to be in.

In that particular situation...Miles Meatballs would conveniently ignore that he loaded the bases in the first place with a solid double and two five pitch walks.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 13:51 pmStrummer Jones wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 13:45 pmYeah, that clocks it pretty well, doesn't it?RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 13:32 pm I think most Cardinal fans have no ill will towards him (this isn't directed at anyone on the board), I'm just speaking my mind.

Mikolas...you're right. Couldn't care less if he got coyote'd by the roadrunner.Meep Meep. Yeah, good point. If I only had that one pitch back, we could have won that gam, instead I gave up a Grand-Slam homer. Yeah, Fedde was the underdog you could root for. Mikolas needed a father figure who would have told him to knock off the **** and let your work do the talking. Instead he got Fanboy Mo rooting on his pet project.
