Superb point- NCAA. Now with the portal it’s impossible to build a four year team. So they don’t. They go year to year. Yet they seem to rebuild. I don't understand how some fans still need to hear this on a weekly basis. Our farm system was bare, our coaching and scouting staffs were falling behind, our major league talent was aging and required kicking in money to move. It sucks but we have to suffer a but before it gets better.

Please explain how it works.imyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 13:47 pm The OP and several like him prefer to wallow in their willful ignorance (about how re-builds work) and living in fantasy land (about what they wanted\expected to happen).
But they sure love their daily postings proving both.

I think you make some good points and yes I share some of the same frustration. There is one major point to consider. Blooms challenge is an organizational rebuild not just a roster rebuild. The rebuild has included major staffing changes, major minor league and development upgrades, moving veteran contract, etc. However the roster rebuild is going very, very slow. That is the frustrating part.Web7 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 13:18 pm You self appointed geniuses keep saying how this is going great ….What is great about it? We literally gave away three of our best players and gave $50 million for them to play somewhere else… The prospects we got back are definitely not the things you build around… They are stop gaps for a few seasons…… We have literally not added one position player to one of the league’s worst offenses… But we did trade two of our three best right handed bats…… I honestly cannot be more disappointed in what bloom has done so far……… but I’m sure I will hear how this is a rebuild and I don’t know how a rebuild works… Even though our own owner said this isn’t a rebuild

How could you correlate that phenomena with a baseball team.WeeVikes wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 07:03 amAnd a truckload of NIL.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 05:30 amSuperb point- NCAA. Moreover, this trend to shorter commitments leads players to follow, not just the $, but the hot teams. If you turn in a loser year after year, there's no way to attract the top talent and climb out of your hole. You have to build and maintain a culture of winning.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 05:30 amSuperb point- NCAA. Now with the portal it’s impossible to build a four year team. So they don’t. Its more of a short term momentum play than this misguided and backassward yin-yang style lose as much as possible to maybe win someday that we see with some basefall franchises. That doesn't work in most sports and I'm hoping the MLB further restricts its seeming usefulness as well. Uncompetitiveness is bad for the sport, and all involved, except maybe the billionaire owner.

Selling sucks, but it's still a better offseason than last year.

It's been explained over and over again, ad nauseum, all winter. You just choose to not accept it and wallow in your ignorance. That's an issue, not an issme.OldRed wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 06:16 amPlease explain how it works.imyourhuckleberry wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 13:47 pm The OP and several like him prefer to wallow in their willful ignorance (about how re-builds work) and living in fantasy land (about what they wanted\expected to happen).
