I watched an interview with Rutherford a few days ago and two other guys (I forgot what it was called). I left that interview really pessimistic as they were talking about hockey trades still and this Rutherford interview was one like 24 hours after it originally aired. Rutherford has been widely considered as someone with legitimate inside information and if they are still thinking this way, man we may be in for decades worth of suffering. They were talking specifically about using Thomas to get a goaltender to go with Hofer. I honestly don't know what to say if your priority right now is goaltender and not upgrading the talent to elite level and young.
I hope they aren't thinking like Rutherford indicated because we desperately need a talent upgrade that only suffering and high drafting is likely to bring. I really wouldn't waste assets like Thomas for instance on a goaltender especially since goaltenders don't tend to bring you much in trades.
Are you talking about Jeremy Rutherford??????
Yeah it was him and a guy named ferrario on a podcast I want to say it was 101.
Others can disagree but JR is a step above click bait for me. They can sign a veteran back up goalie if they manage to move Binnie
Speaking of JR and honestly not trying to trash the guy, but I read something in the Athletic that kind of shocked me. I think it was part of the recent "Mailbag" thing - someone asked him about traveling with the team and contact with players/coaches/management. He said he used to travel with them a lot, back in the Post Dispatch days, but not anymore. But he said when they were on the road, he had very little contact with the team and management, and he would basically hang out with the broadcasters.
So wait a minute, you are on the road with the team for days at a time and you aren't talking to the coaches, scouts, management at every opportunity? That shocked me. Wouldn't you take advantage of that situation to try and find your next story, whether it be something about the current team or maybe about Blues prospects? I don't know, maybe that isn't a realistic scenario in this day and age, but it struck me as odd....and kind of lazy.

Is there another team in the NHL that considers aligning the ages of the girl scouts as the primary goal VERSUS acquiring elite talent?
Sure. You do that when you are making a Cup run with the 1 player that you add. NOBODY would architect their new core group based on AGE. It's ridiculous. Do you think Islander fans are going to ever regret having Michael Schaefer on their team - BECAUSE HE IS NOT THE SAME AGE AS SOMEBODY ELSE?
This is what really burns me up about STL hockey journalism. Army lays this trash food on the ground, and then our analysts just run with it like its caviar.

I can’t fathom either one of them saying that TBH. It makes no sense. If they did they were joking or something. JR is already on record as saying the asking price for Thomas is huge, getting a guy to pair with Hofer is not huge.

rutherford is the furthest from an insider that you can get Ever since he went to the Atlantic he throws [shirt] our for click bait to justify his existence. I do not know that any of his predictions have panned out (other than what he plagiarized from legit insiders and repackaged as his own). I find Eklund more credible at this point and a slightly better writer as well.
If there is a team that more aligns with what the Blues are doing it’s the Flames. Over the last 3 years they each have 5 - 1st rd picks. The avg pick for the Flames is 20.6. The Blues is 19.8. I’d argue the difference is Calgary had a chance to go young and build the way the poster habitually harps on and instead took two veterans back for Tkachuk.
I don’t even know what the poster is trying to point out. And if he is going based on what Armstrong has said, he’s even dumber than I thought, because does he really think Armstrong is going to tell everyone his plans?

Zherenko has a career .904 in 111 AHL GP, i dont see why Monty wouldnt give him the chance at the back up spot. Hofer is a #1 i think Zherenko can handle this
