The first 2-3 years the Blues were in STL they would occasionally have skating parties on my Grandfathers farm pond in Pacific on Sunday afternoons. I was only 10 or 11 so I really did not know him. My mom was his banker when he was here. I really guess he will have a new barn to paint in heaven. :(
And no bucket for the pre game jitters.

Amazing.

Hall and Plante.

You had to love it.
What a fearsome combo that was,

I loved Glenn Hall I'm proud to say. So many thoughts. Players blocking shots....he did it full time, no mask. Yes, painting the barn. It's sad, but he was a joyous man. What a man. Rest in peace MR. GOALIE.

And just look at how SMALL that equipment was back then.

Cotton and leather get heavyer, when it got wet.
One of his leather gloves weighed more than a set of today's goalie pads !

No kidding! Seeing some of the videos of him, he looks so small in the net….as all old goalies did. By comparison. Look how massive skinny little Joel Hofer looks in net! Totally right on that equipment as well. That old stuff was heavy when dry, but ridiculous once it started to get wet!
