Exactly. He can easily get $2M in college which would require him to be a first round pick to make that in the pros.dhsux wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 12:33 pmThought this very thing when Wilson made his decision.....rezero wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 17:10 pm Brendan Sorsby $6M/yr deal is higher than McCarthy, Nix, Penix, and Darts first round NFL Salaries. This is getting crazier by the day.

James Pearce Jr (EDGE) was the 26th overall pick by the Falcons.rezero wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 15:21 pmExactly. I’d drop scholarships and make players pay for everything.LGB73 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 08:36 am It's time to start treating this for what it is: professional sports. I'd tier the system with 48 programs(4 12-team divisions) competing in Tier 1 and playing for the National Championship. The other schools would then be pushed back into probably what is a more traditional college football conference system. Set up rules for what teams can spend, players are signing multi-year contracts, etc.
Tuition, room and board, meal plan, a “Training Fee” for the training staff, a “facilities fee” for use of the weight room and a “uniform fee” to help cover a portion of what the guys on scholarships actually get.
I’d even charge them a travel fee to cover airfare and hotels.
Weaponize NIL against the players.

Players would still want the same money net of the charges you suggest. That would only drive up player payments, as if they aren't already in the stratosphere.Weaponize NIL against the players.
The way you describe it would also have the poor schlub making only $50K being in the hole before the season started.

A friend of mine works at TT. He said Campbell was a TT player, started an oil company & sold it for $3+ billion. He's the chairman on the TT Board of Regents (imagine that).

He's saved TT. Now he says he wants to save college sports.
