Wonder what a return for a Donovan/Romero package could look like from the Yankees.
Better be really good for that package!

No kidding. I'm so tired of hearing about the crowded 40-man. Yeah, crowded with several bums.

While true, they just went through the exercise of trimming it, deciding to protect from Rule 5, and the +/- from the Rule 5 draft. Be kind of silly to then just put someone on waivers you just protected just bc of a minor timing difference of a few days. Donovan and/or Jojo trades seem imminent.

thank goodness MO is gone
who knows what that dufus would do (besides nothing)?
Johnny Mojangles would be in hibernation. Keeping the powder dry and resting up for that low-hanging fruit scavenge in July. He was a pathetic putz.

I have a legit question on 40 Man status from someone more knowledgeable than me:
*40 man is full.
*Just went thru Rule 5 process.
*Dustin May signing coming up.
*Obviously a trade can open up a spot possibly.
*Won’t mention any names(cough cough Roycroft) but I can see spots that can open up room.

At what point can you place a player on the 60 Day IL which removes him from the active 40 man?
I was thinking of Roby who I’m sure will start the season on the 60 Day IL due to his surgery?
I’m just guessing that that designation can’t happen this early?

Can someone clarify????

Is this how Hansen gets on the 40 man and to the Majors before everyone else? Didn't see this one coming.

They'll probably sign some LHP relievers before spring training...but it's a possible scenario with Hansen or another one of our many LHP pitchers in the Minors. Thompson wasn't claimed? If he's healthy, maybe he has a shot at the BP?
I can fully see Zack Thompson playing a prominent role out of the pen if he has a good spring training. I also think they are bringing Packy Naughton to ST. Not sure what that will mean. I don't see Pete Hansen having the stuff to come out of the bullpen. Admittedly, I'm only guessing about that.
Maybe I missed an update, but I thought Zack was a Free Agent?
Former Cardinals pitcher Zack Thompson is a free agent
Now, he heads to free agency after missing the 2025 campaign. When Thompson was at his best, he had the upside to be a key piece of the Cardinals' bullpen while also making a spot-starter here and there. Unfortunately, the end of his stint with the organization didn't go as planned after being one of the team's highest-rated prospects at one point.

Scratch that…
Update: LHP Zack Thompson will not become an MiLB free-agent after all, as the Cardinals learned after announcing the roster move that, due to the complexity of MLB rules relating to spending an entire year on MLB IL, Thompson is not a minor-league free agent and cleared waivers. He has been outrighted to Memphis.

Again I can’t believe finding room for May will be that big of a deal?

I recently read (can't remember where?) that Packy Naughton is healthy and expecting to be ready in ST. He could be an option.
