They've operated within the rules set forth by MLB. It's not their fault the rules are stupid and you can't blame them for leveraging what's available to them.
Not respecting them is pretty silly.
Plus Freeman, Betts, Ohtani all seem pretty likeable. They don't really have a villain player to get worked up about.

No, they part ways pretty quickly with the Puig, Bauer, Urias types.

Yes.
The Dodgers are trying to win the WS. Their moves are designed to maximize long term value by building winner after winner.
It's the Cardinals' ownership, which is not trying to win the WS, but only trying to remain "competitive," which I do not respect.

The money obviously helps. As does the geography landing the Japanese superstars. But yes I respect them as an organization. They are also smart. They choose the right guys to spend on and build the right kind of team to contend.
If they were limited to something like $200 mil salary they would still be in the hunt because they do things right.
This doesn't mean I don't despise them. But I have to recognize they are smart too.

Will assume the Dodgers do most things by the MLB "book". What is obvious is the organization values MLB competent staff, coaches, manager, etc from top to bottom. Thus their drafting and player development is exceptional bar none. On the field the Dodgers are rarely out strategized.
They do not shy away from moving players who do not grow in development. Cannot think of Dodgers version of Gorman, CMart, etc, although I am sure they exist. Dodgers just do not use "wait and see" and development process.
Another twist on the "respect the Dodger" question should be Do You Respect MLB Execs and Owners for Allowing the Dodgers to Dominate MLB? Owners are doing it to themselves, the Dodgers are just using everything at their disposal to win championships. Pretty sure that is why they play the games.

They also move on from Justin Turner and Austin Barnes when they need to.

No better way to say it than this.

I respect them more than I do the Mets or Angels.
This. Money alone doesn't make you successful, but it gives you a huge headstart. The Angels had Ohtani under team control at league minimum and arb prices, AND Mike Trout and couldn't make the playoffs (in part because they spent foolishly on other players).
Friedman is a great executive, I respect the Dodgers for going after one of the best even though they have a massive resource advantage.
No. They represent everything that’s wrong with MLB baseball right now.

That may be, but that's not the Dodgers' fault. Would you respect them more if they had the resources and chose not to deploy them? They're not going to do things with one hand tied behind their backs.
The system needs to change, but until it does why wouldn't they take advantage of their resources?

I respect a lot of their players. Their team payroll only bothers me because nobody is really chasing them.
In the late-90s, early 2000s it was easy to hate the Yankees, but the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry made it interesting (before ESPN wore it out).
It seems like the Dodgers are in a different universe than the rest of MLB, which makes them less compelling.

They didn't make the rules. I'd rather see a team try and build the best team they can instead of their owners pocketing several $100Ms extra in profits.
I do agree that revenue inequality will eventually ruin this league.

If you don’t respect the Dodgers you don’t understand business, marketing and success. They have had some advantages given to them by MLB. They are in a large market and they have spent money. But bottom line is they have won. Championships, profit, increased franchise value.
If you don’t respect them stop whining and tip your cap.
I respect neither you nor your opinion. Your first sentence says all I need to know. Is your last name Busch?

If the Cardinals tv rights brought them $300+ million per year, would that represent a problem in your world?

Or do you consider them simply a product of the most $$$ spent?
I do not believe the team deserves to be ranked as one of baseball's all-time best teams.
I simply consider them bought and paid for. Very similar to my thoughts on players who used steroids.
No respect.

No. If we get a legitimate payroll cap and the Dodgers win with the same payroll as everybody else then I'll change my mind.
Do you feel the same way of every team with a high payroll that won a World Series? What if Toronto won? of Philadelphia? What is your high horse threshold? Nope the Dodgers are a model franchise for sure.
