Do you respect the Dodgers?

Do you respect the Dodgers?
Or do you consider them simply a product of the most $$$ spent?
I do not believe the team deserves to be ranked as one of baseball's all-time best teams.
I simply consider them bought and paid for. Very similar to my thoughts on players who used steroids.
No respect.

I don’t have to love them, but they made it happen. You could have given me that money and I wouldn’t have pulled it off.

Yes my thinking. They didn’t break rules, yet, that’s admirable. Good business maybe.WeeVikes wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 06:51 am+1sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 06:38 am I see them as I would any other dynasty. Smart.

One day in STL there will be a new owner. Maybe the kind that’s spends. Could one day be us.
As long as the pennant flys; then I don’t care what money can buy.

The juicers were cheaters and in some cases criminals. What rule (unwritten or otherwise) or law have the Dodgers broken?opti mist wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 06:34 am Or do you consider them simply a product of the most $$$ spent?

Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
Yes. Things don't have to go well just because you are the Dodgers. Look no farther than Frank McCourt. These people are smart. They have exploited every advantage they had, and have created new advantages along the way. As an example- why didn't the Mariners capture the Asian market when Ichiro was there? They certainly could have. The Cardinals were once the smartest team in the major leagues- why didn't they press and extend that advantage?
They draft well. They develop well. They care for their players well. They market well. They build a roster well. They hire smart people. They don't just do these things well because they are rich. Yes, I respect them. They are excellent at what they do.

Steroids eh? So breaking MLB rules to give you’re self an advantage over those who are practicing and training properly is the equivalent a team spending money that they are well within their rights to do so?
Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
I respect them more than I do the Mets or Angels.

Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
I don’t like them but I respect them. They spend a ton of money but they spend it well money hasn’t bought the padres Mets or Yankees anything the blue jays spent a ton of money. The dodgers are smart and they invest in the team as much as I hate them it’s not their job to give the rest of the teams a chance to beat them. So yea I hate them as a team they’re easy to root against but definitely respect them. If the cardinals were in their position few cardinals fans would be complaining they are giving other teams a chance to winopti mist wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 06:34 am Or do you consider them simply a product of the most $$$ spent?

No. If we get a legitimate payroll cap and the Dodgers win with the same payroll as everybody else then I'll change my mind.opti mist wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 06:34 am Or do you consider them simply a product of the most $$$ spent?

Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
If you don’t respect the Dodgers you don’t understand business, marketing and success. They have had some advantages given to them by MLB. They are in a large market and they have spent money. But bottom line is they have won. Championships, profit, increased franchise value.
If you don’t respect them stop whining and tip your cap.

They haven't done anything different than what the Yankees did for so long. I don't intend to watch them and don't watch the Yankees.opti mist wrote: ↑13 Nov 2025 06:34 am Or do you consider them simply a product of the most $$$ spent?

Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
The Dodgers still put a huge weight on their farm system that just keeps churning out players.
They then supplement the roster w/Stars using their massive treasure chest.
Dream scenario for their fans, how I wish we had that (great minor league system + unlimited funds).

Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
The Dodgers have the market and the resources to acquire high level talent and also have built an excellent minor league system to evaluate and develop young talent.
Re: Do you respect the Dodgers?
This. Money alone doesn't make you successful, but it gives you a huge headstart. The Angels had Ohtani under team control at league minimum and arb prices, AND Mike Trout and couldn't make the playoffs (in part because they spent foolishly on other players).
Friedman is a great executive, I respect the Dodgers for going after one of the best even though they have a massive resource advantage.
