Ya a brilliant distraction move.

He also let up the next 2 shots on net after that goal too so he could put the attention on him and not the team while he sat on the bench the rest of the game

On the contrary. It was a brilliant move.

Why?

It was a distraction and necessary one. Hopefully it got the guys to laugh about it. Give him some grief in the room. Take the focus off of the loss if only for a short time. Let's be honest, even though that was the second goal of the night, the Blues weren't winning that game. They were a mess in the first and were lucky to get out down only one - Binner was the reason why. The team is tight, they are on their heels, and the team is thinking and hesitating instead of executing. Even a fraction of a second in this league spells disaster.

This isn't on Binnington and Hofer. The skating gaps are getting very wide and they are forcing passes, that lead to turnovers. Busting out of the zone early. They are telegraphing a lot, and just getting away from "meat and potatoes" hockey. They need more guys to play like Neighbors and get their noses dirty and keep it simple.
Firstly, thanks for disagreeing civilly, it’s a rare refreshing occurrence on here.

Secondly, I trully hope your overall point is correct. Time will definitely tell.

That was a breakdown in defensive structure. He had no chance on either one. First was a Tucker misplay leaving Faulk all alone with Ovi poised for a one-time. The second was an uncovered shooter with plenty of time and space. He wasn't touched and had plenty of time to pick his spot. He also had passes available to him. (While many are pointing to Mailloux, Tucker has been struggling a bit lately. Kessel hasn't been much better. Hence the reason for the Rosen deal.)

I played goal for a very long time. At the elite level, you have to be constantly taking into account the options available to the puck carrier. Removing time and space dramatically compromises those options. Coverage, eliminates options, etc.

I thought it was absolutely hilarious, and I think that's the spirit that Binnington intended. The only thing I think is funnier is watching people have a complete meltdown about it  . Probably the highlight of the year for me, as well.

Obviously you are wrong. The proof is in this thread. Many on this forum think it was funny and brilliant, just for the laughs.

If you haven't figured it out his antics are generally irreverent, such as last night or his fake punching stint.

The nerve of him!

Some find it amusing other stuffed shirts not so much.

I do know he's a hell of a good team mate to have.

Hilarious.

As someone else said in a comments section somewhere, if MAF did it people would laugh and thing it was a good gag. But since it was Binny who is a polarizing personality people get upset.

The guy skated to the middle of the ice, hiked his jersey up under his arm, cameras and 20k people in the arena watching him and he stuff it down his pants.

No twitter, he was not trying to keep it for himself so he could sell it on EBay. It was a funny gag.

It cracked me up. Binny must come from a family who don't mind having a little fun with life. It reminded me of the time, I believe when Binny had the Cup in his home town. He was standing by a big sign celibrating Binny, the hometown hero. Behind Binny, his sister, laying under the big sign, had a little hand held sign saying "I'm his sister" or something like that. I thought it was funny as heck.

I admit, I'm a big time Binny fan because he is an excellant goalie. Not all of the time, but most of the time. Even when we lose, he usually has made some incredible saves in those games. Most of the time forgotten. The boys are not winning for a lot of reasons, but they're not the same reasons every game. It's a bummer for me, and I'm sure it's a bummer for the team too. And I'd imagine they want to figure it out and start winning again.

Myself and a lot of you guys have said it before. This is a good team and this should not be happening. But no matter what happens, this is not going to go on forever. I know, because I've watched the Blues since their first game, and believe it or not there have been some pretty bad Blues teams throughout all these years. The rest of you guys who've been around for a long time know what I mean. OK, I'll stop now.

Per Lou Korac:
https://x.com/lkorac10/status/1986507359452033086
Jordan Binnington pregame regarding Alex Ovechkin 900th goal: "Basically I had an assist on the goal there turning it over so didn't think he'd mind sharing it. I had full intention of giving it back to him." #stlblues

There was more, talking about an incredible player Ovi is.

I like to think that he had a puck in his pants already and gave that one back, thus keeping the real one.
At the very least, the real one has 50's (donkey) sweat all over it.
