Dvorsky is our #1 prospect
Lindstein and Snuggerud are the next two min whichever order, because of their likelihood of being excellent at their positions.
IMO Stenberg fourth, Carbo fifth
Then IMO it's the three defensemen (Fischer, Jiricek (rising), Mailloux (falling)) and Stancl and Pekarcik (rising) in the next group. This is a group that should all be NHL players.
Ralph is a wild card. He plays with MSU vs Gavin McKenna/Penn St. twice this coming weekend. Hope to see at least some of it.
Korotky I have no eyes on, he is a wild card to me and I prefer him be that way, just drop out of the blue one day and be amazing, sure. I'll take it.
Not attacking your analysis here, but I don't ever get too worked up over prospect rankings. There's a group that project to eventually play in the NHL, a smaller group that project to latch onto a role, a smaller group that project to be top-4/top-6, and the players now and then that look like certain NHL all-stars. The Blues have at least a handful of guys projecting into top-4/top-6, more for depth, and they still have all their future first round picks. They are going to be ok.
I think it's coming time to scratch Snuggerud and Dvorsky off the prospect list. Technically, after their Calder season, but these guys are in the NHL to stay.
It will be interesting to see what they do with Mailloux now. He's clearly got talent but his game looks very unsteady in light of the Blues on-ice expectations.
They have players like Dylan Peterson who is still a viable 4th line player for the Blues who I would not be able to put in the top 10. Even if he becomes an incredible 4th liner, the overall value of that contribution to the team is lower than a top 4 defenseman, top 6 forward. Rankings are the most "fun" you can have as you watch these players develop. I am watching all of Springfield, Blainville, Sarnia and Brantford this year thereby seeing all of our top 10 prospects play every game so it's more of a challenge that way, the same way it's kind of a fun challenge to decide who the Blues should have on their draft list each year before the draft. When I put forth a prospects list it's like MN's list, there's a lot of thought and observation in there.
I read and appreciate your reports. I really do. I just don't see much point point trying to distinguish between, say, Snuggerud and Dvorsky. The Blues need to both to be as good as they individually can be. And yeah, Peterson doesn't need a top-10 ranking to answer his calling. Stenberg may be called on before Lindstein or vice versa, not sure what rankings mean there.
But I do NOT mean to throw cold water on your ranking exercise. It's all for armchair consumption and fun, at least until someone tries to use rankings to denigrate players or the team.
To a degree i am with you i get it trying to assign an order to prospects but until they are in the Blue Note, doing it we dont know exactly. What i know today is
Dvorsky may be the most skilled Blue right there with Thomas watching him last night and over this stretch he does the little things correctly i.e. he doesnt bobble pucks, his passes are clean and crisp he has an elite shot, yes its elite. Watching him live i was able to see him all over the ice and he was impressive considering he turned 20 in June he played fairly well against a team absolutely stacked at center. And most importantly he moved pretty well live, hes not a fast skater but he is certainly not slow. Wait till this kid is 23 or 24 yrs old he looks like a PPG + center easy, big shot and a great playmaker its what a #10 pick should look like. Time will come when DD is playing with top notch forwards and it will be fun to watch
Snuggerud i would say a lot of the same things, different player for sure than #54 but again high skill level guy its very apparent i was not aware of how well Snuggerud makes plays hes just a good of a passer as he is a shooter. Idk if Snuggy is a 30 goal guy this year, the lines and offence still needs to gel for the Blues but the future is bright with him. He will be able to walk defenders on the fly and either shoot or find open players for tap ins. He can play at pace its only a matter of time before he explodes.
Broberg is a #1 dman he was great last night he was all over the ice, elite skater, makes plays, breaks up plays he should be paid big money hes a lock. Hes not going to be overly physical ever but hes dangerous because he moves so well he is approaching what we saw last season i expected more points from Brobie this year but it will come.
