Ought they not go to a Canadian equivalent instead?
Yes, that would make more sense. But some bozos on here cant pass up the opportunity to throw politics into the forum. And notice the moderators haven't been quick to lock the thread.
The thread has a lot of anti incumbent comments….
If it was predominantly pro incumbent…it would have been history long ago…

Considering the animosity between the U.S. govt and Canada, will they accept an invitation to the Whitehouse?
I would think they would let the individual players decide on if they wanted to go they would probably make their players mad if they didn’t give them a choice and it would kind of be messed up to not give them a choice on if they want to go or not
Can you imagine the fans reaction to a player going to the Whitehouse? I mean, if they win the series....maybe there's some understanding there. Maybe. But they do frequently boo the American anthem because of the animosity.

Of course he may change his mind which he often does, but President Trump has already announced he won't be inviting either team to the White House. He dislikes the politics of the Dodger's owner. Toronto is in the wrong country.
Really? I seem to recall a visit they made to the Whitehouse. Maybe I'm wrong. I hate when things get petty though.

I'm not going to dip my toes into the political pond on this one. Despite any current events one way or another, wouldn't a Canadian team meet with the Canadian Prime Minister?
I wouldn't think player nationality would have anything to do with it. Plenty of Latin American players still go to the White House. It's all about where a team plays, no?
They might go to the Canadian equivalent but that doesn't mean they can't go to the Whitehouse also. Not only that but it's called "America's favorite pastime" after all. Why would a Cuban player go to a country he escaped from? Or any other?

No...no.... that's just you reading into it what you want to. This is not political at all. It's a fact that our countries have animosity between them and baseball is a shared sport. Just like Hockey. But visiting the Whitehouse , if being invited, is fairly customary for the champions.

Exactly. With 10 day suspensions.
This was not meant to be political at all. If you and him want to make it that...it's on you. Merely observing the circumstances between our countries and what might or might not happen.

This is correct.
Mods showing their true colors
Stop with the political ramifications. The thread was only about the realistic premise of whether or not they would accept an invitation if they win, or in fact even get an invitation. You all are trying to warp the thread into some political statement. Stop it.
Folks. It has nothing to do with who is in the White House. Look at it this way. If an American team wins the Stanley Cup do they go to Ottawa to meet the Prime Minister? NO. If a Canadian baseball team wins the WS, they may or may not go to Ottawa, but they certainly don't go to the White House. It just isn't that big a deal here in Canada as it is there. No politics involved. If they go anywhere, it would be to Ottawa.

I understand what you’re saying. I would certainly understand a Canadian-based team being invited to Ottawa. However, I don’t know that that should also preclude a parallel invite to the White House as MLB is headquartered in the US and is composed of primarily US teams. As a citizen of the US I’d hope we’d be gracious enough to invite any champion of a US based league, regardless of the occupant of the White House.

bull[shirt]. Its clearly a political thread. Maybe not intentionally targeted at a particular party (doubtful), but has political implications.
And why did you call 45s and I out in regards to trying to make it political? Read some of the other replies. Those went out of the way to make it political. 45s and I just pointed out the politics and ramifications.

...and if invited, I would hope a Canadian team would accept, but these are rather tense political times and I honestly don't know what would happen. Will be interesting to see should the Jays prevail tonight. I was just pointing out that such things are not as big a deal in Canada as in the USA. I spent my first 32 years in the USA so I know the culture. I have spend the last 36 in Canada, so I know this one. This is a very different country with different cultural norms, and that is all I was pointing out. Thanks for the polite discourse on your end:)

I posted the reality of the situation with the question if they will be invited or if they will go, you guys made it political. I didn't favor any party. Why do some whine so loudly about victimization? Like calling out the mods. Why? Can't you just speculate if Torotnto will or won't go to the Whitehouse without you being offended and whining?
For the Toronto Blue Jays, history already offers a precedent. In 1992, they became the first Canadian team to visit the White House after a World Series victory, celebrated by President George H.W. Bush following their six-game triumph over the Atlanta Braves.
That visit carried more than athletic significance; it symbolized cross-border respect and goodwill. Bush even referenced the upcoming North American Free Trade Agreement, connecting the Blue Jays' success to shared economic optimism.
When the Blue Jays repeated as champions in 1993, a second White House visit did not occur, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts, marking a rare absence of what could have become a tradition for Canadian teams.
