Nootbar hit .224 .300 .337 .637 over his last 447 PA
Walker hit .211 .270 .324 .595 over his last 574 PA
Scott hit .206 .283 .293 .576 over his 618 PA career
These are our outfielders.
Yay.
And some people want to trade Willson and Nado so that Burly and Donny can’t be 2 of the OF bats.

Well, if they can't trade him, I suppose the next best thing would be to have him on the DL.
The situation that is created is the total opposite of that prior to the 2025 season. That issue was not that Nootbaar and Walker were on the roster. It was the over reliance of the team in them. They did that more than one season, more than one position.
Next season they really can't at corner outfielder.
The short-term answer is rather obvious.
Dononvan should move to LF and every effort should be made to repurpose Herrera (as I was first to understand and advise 4 years ago) as an outfielder.

Chaim Bloom revealed to Matt Pauley of KMOX Sports in a radio interview that Opening Day is neither entirely off the table nor entirely guaranteed for Nootbaar following his surgery. Bloom adds that they don’t intend to rush the rehab process in order to get him back on time for the start of the season, but that
if he were to miss time to open the season the absence would be limited.
This is actually great news meaning Noot's recovery is much closer to the 6 month estimate!
In a perfect world, he would be out until about June. That way, he can have his once-a-year hot month right before the trade deadline.
Unlike many in here C-unit, I'm not so sure Noot isn't here all of 2026.

That would work best if the Cardinals get to use 4 OFers.
They'd need to play deep, which has consequences compounded with
pitch to contact and the decreased range of the guy you have at 3B.

Mootbaar was horrendous defensively in 2025 and Donovan would be an upgrade.
As for Herrera, if he can become serviceable in RF, it is doubtful he would be worse than Walker.
Ideal?
Nope.
But the best option STL has based on current inventory.
As I alone have consistently stated since at long ago as 2018/2019, the team needs to acquire a quality, established outfielder.
Mo was an unmitigated disaster in his handling of the outfield and left a ridiculous mess.
Perhaps a new day will Bloom.

I am assuming that Noot will be on the IL starting 2026 season. Maybe even on the 60 IL.

No such thing as DL. That designation was dropped several years ago.
Starting in 2019 DL. Disabled List was replaced by IL injured list as some injuries were not necessarily disabling.
Upcoming season will be the 8th year IL is in place.
Easy error to make though.

Synonyms.
Bottom line.
STL is a better team when Mootbaar is not on the field.
He has always been more promise than production.
More dreaming than doing.
Lars The Human Sushi-baar.
Not much substance - always leaving a slightly empty feeling.

This is actually great news meaning Noot's recovery is much closer to the 6 month estimate!
The best news would be he can now be traded sooner than previously thought. Certainly, recovery to play for the Cards sooner is not a reason to celebrate.

Not the right time now to trade him "sooner" RoJo because you'd get absolutely nothing but a lotto ticket prospect.
Big reason to celebrate if he's back on the field late April/early May and puts together a couple solid months which would increase his trade value and the return.

Where did Moe find all of these sweet little China dolls? My goodness, the team ought to do away with Stifel patches and replace them with Red Cross patches. What if these constantly breakable he-men had to play hockey?

As has been said about many before Noot, he’s not worth the powder it takes to blow him to hell. Better try to work a trade to a Japanese team. They are the only ones who will pay something for him.

He had surgery on both heals- of course he may start the season on the IL. The only surprise is that he may be back sooner rather than later.
