Thx birds'
Chaim Bloom revealed to Matt Pauley of KMOX Sports in a radio interview that Opening Day is neither entirely off the table nor entirely guaranteed for Nootbaar following his surgery. Bloom adds that they don’t intend to rush the rehab process in order to get him back on time for the start of the season, but that if he were to miss time to open the season the absence would be limited.
This is actually great news meaning Noot's recovery is much closer to the 6 month estimate!

In a perfect world, he would be out until about June. That way, he can have his once-a-year hot month right before the trade deadline.rockondlouie wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 14:21 pm Thx birds'

Well, that's one less sub .700 OPS bat. Get well, but don't hurry back, Nooooooooooooot.

If we can't do better than Nootbaar why bother? Healthy or not, he shouldn't be a starting OF on this team.
Re: Nootbaar may start 2026 on IL
Hope Bloom is NOT going to be a MO Ran when discussing team issues. Using English language 170,000 words to say word salad of nothing NOR return to fans and give credible updates.
According to doctor write ups patients do NOT even start walking for approx 1 month. Running 2-3 months. Competitive sports 6-8 months IF they do return. Seems to all be predicated upon the Achillies tendon and how much damage.
Even though asked the question regarding Noot availability why even say anything? Simple answer is too early in rehab to comment.

He commented on it hoping some team would swallow it all and go ahead and trade for him this winter.

Yes I know that, and he knows that too, but why come out say he may not be ready to play until July, IF, you were hoping to trade him?Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 19:51 pmLol teams wouldn’t take his word for it and just trade for him they would have their own medical people review it

Why not say it? Any team would find out how long he will be out when they have their medical people review it so why waste everyone’s time with subterfuge?Hoosier59 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 19:56 pmYes I know that, and he knows that too, but why come out say he may not be ready to play until July, IF, you were hoping to trade him?Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑26 Oct 2025 19:51 pmLol teams wouldn’t take his word for it and just trade for him they would have their own medical people review it

Re: Nootbaar may start 2026 on IL
Well, if they can't trade him, I suppose the next best thing would be to have him on the DL.
Re: Nootbaar may start 2026 on IL
The situation that is created is the total opposite of that prior to the 2025 season. That issue was not that Nootbaar and Walker were on the roster. It was the over reliance of the team in them. They did that more than one season, more than one position.
Next season they really can't at corner outfielder.
