Ice time distribution is a little strange IMO

Hopefully it won't take 3 months again for the Boys to start playing 60 minutes a night and for each other. But until they do, expect more of the same with inconsistency being the norm.

Plus/minus doesn't tell the whole story but it's pretty damning: Schenn is -10, Mailloux is -9 (in very limited action), Holloway is -8, Kyrou is -6, Fowler is -5, and the rest are actually fairly respectable. But no one is more than +2.

I don't think Holloway and Broberg are playing anywhere near the level they were last year.

Mailloux needs to be playing regularly, in Springfield.

Also, Monty is generally only playing the 3rd pair of Dmen around 10 minutes a game, or less, which is not sustainable over the season but is most telling, unfortunately.
I think Broberg has been fine. Holloway does not look like the player from last year so far. The +/- stats are somewhat misleading due to many of the goals given up by Hofer. Not the players fault that happened to be on the ice at the time. However, the team looks lackadaisical overall. Almost like they still think it's the preseason. They better wake up soon.

Montgomery has four more years left on his contract. He's not going anywhere.

Bad goaltending. It buries teams mentally when they can’t trust the goalie to make timely saves.

At least we now know the reason Monty is hellbent on getting Looch into that locker room.

It's still early in the season, but that's about a bad of a loss as you can have. Adding to that the Thomas injury.

Still there is hope. You have your top players that aren't playing well. You have to believe that they will get going and right the ship.

A sober reminder that coaching matters. Wonder why the players quit on him in Boston.

Well, the only team I was rooting for yesterday that didn't lose was Georgia Tech. Mizzou, South Carolina couldn't pull out their games, LSU looked a lot like the Blues in the second half of their game (no offense, couldn't stop a beach ball)..

Looking forward to that Georgia Tech and Georgia game to close out the season. Good chance GT is still undefeated heading into that game provided they don’t overlook Pitt the week before.

Like it or not, leaders are defined by their paychecks. And if the top paid guys are allowed to coast, then the younger players will do the same.

I honestly wish guys like Joseph and Walker had the offensive talent to be out there when we're tied or behind - because that's the effort I want to see on every shift. Unfortunately, we're stuck with Kyrou when we're behind. And when that is the case, things just snowball.

What players are playing to or above their capabilities?
I count 6 at the most.

Has Fowler turned into Nick Leddy Jr.?
For the time being I won't beat the 2 dead horses (25 & 89).

Explain to me why we are wasting nearly 7 million in cap space on Joseph, Texier, and Bjugstad.
Could've brought in a veteran d-man with some of that cash instead of relying on Tucker, Kessel, and MayU as our 5-7 d-men.
I'm sorry but Joseph getting nearly 3 million for his lack of production is a massive waste. He's a non retractable anchor.

Is Drew Bannister still the coach?
Even though I don't bow down to him like others on this forum, the most surprising thing to me is that a (regular season) team coached by Jim Montgomery looks this bad.

A 4 game winning streak will erase most of our negativity though.

This has nothing to do with "effort" or coasting, The goal tending has not been good at all(either one of them) and the roster is poorly constructed.

The goal tending will come around and we'll do better but still probably not great.

I have to say Fowler and Holloway have been complete ghosts. No idea if they're on the ice or not.

I wondered out loud over the Summer if Monty was a little overrated or not, and unfortunately I think the jury’s still out on that one. Some of his moves and decisions are questionable in my opinion.

Mizzou pizzzed me off bigtime again. They just arent able to win the big ones, to date at least. On the only bright side I see at the moment, Zollers sure looks the part. Size, poise, arm, and the moment didnt look too big for em. Only thing missing is the reps.
