Both McGuire and Holliday would, absolutely, be worth consideration for Cardinals' manager in the future.

Some interesting former Cardinals worth consideration for manager in the future, Pujols, Molina, Schumaker, McGuire, Edmonds, Holliday, Wainwright, Clapp, etc. Did I miss anybody? Marmol could make that conversation moot for a while by leading the team to a division championship next season. He'll definitely need some help from Bloom for that to happen.

I’ve wondered if a language/communication barrier was a hindrance for Molina’s candidacy as a manager. I never brought it up because I figured I’d just get roasted for making some assumed race thing out of it, as is the new normal these days. But since Wainwright brought it up (lol) here goes…

Molina obviously has the baseball IQ, and then some, for the most important aspects, on-field/in-game decision making and personnel evaluation.

His English is technically fluent, but when dealing with the media and the ability to read between the lines and identify loaded questions and address them eloquently, especially with sensitive issues, would it be problematic from a PR standpoint?

Also, would there be communication barriers or an inability to connect at a deeply personal level with players when he has to wear the psychologist hat that managers often do. I wouldn’t expect a coach that spoke “get by” Spanish to go to the Latin American Leagues and be the most inspiring either.

Not sure how much this all matters because 1. MLB shouldn’t an instructional league anyway 2. Players can hire a psychologist or whine to someone else 3. To hell with the media and political correctness, it’s made everyone sound full of [shirt] anyway. Mo was politically correct and was a hard listen himself.

A good topic and the sad sacks want to dwell on a mis-spelling. That tells all you need to know about the kind of shallow people they are. Some pretty smart folks. But very shallow, character-wise. Ex. constantly putting others down over trivial things.

Could he? Probably so. He might crave attention, he’s not half as funny as he thinks he is, and one of the world’s worst musicians….but he was a smart player who knew the game, great teammate, and had zero quit in him and a good man. He’d make a pretty great pitching coach and maybe manager too.
