Would Wainwright be interested in managing?
He might be as successful as any former Cardinal great if he would pursue it. He's baseball smart and was a highly respected leader as a player.

Doesn’t strike me as his thing. Plus he’s busy awkwardly singing bad country songs.
Re: Would Wainwright be interested in managing?
Honestly I think worse. Pitching coach, maybe. Not manager.

Please no!
His ego is way to big to do such a selfless job. We need leadership, not an attention whore.

He was asked that during a recent playoff telecast and he was adamant about no way. He said hours too long and away from the family too much. He also said that Qquendo would have made a great manager except he wasn’t seen as capable of dealing with the media which is why he never got the chance. Also said Molina will need help with the media if he became a manager.

You don't understand, Shady views being an attention whore as a "plus".Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑19 Oct 2025 13:42 pm Please no!

That's a significant area Wainwright would be outstanding in, "dealing with the media". Sounds like he'd rather spend time with the family.kyace wrote: ↑19 Oct 2025 13:46 pm He was asked that during a recent playoff telecast and he was adamant about no way. I don’t think I would have said it quite so strongly but you are in the right track.Basil Shabazz wrote: ↑19 Oct 2025 13:42 pm Please no!

Job interview goes like this: GM ~ "So, Adam, what can you bring to this organization that will help us win games?"Shady wrote: ↑19 Oct 2025 14:00 pmThat's a significant area Wainwright would be outstanding in, "dealing with the media". Adam ~ "Well, I'm great at dealing with the media"
GM ~ "What does that have to do with winning games?"
Adam ~ "It's the art of dealing with the media, that's important...more important than the players and how they perform"
GM ~ "Well, we'll let you know, maybe, Adam....thanks for coming in, son"
Adam ~ "Just point me to the media, I'll deal with them!!! I'm the Right Handed version of Chris Carpenter!!!"
Re: Would Wainwright be interested in managing?
I might be concerned that Waino may defer to players (vet players ) who would be approaching some personal records yet not be in the overall best interest of the team .
Like when Cardinals kept sending Waino out there despite major struggles for the organization wanted him desperately to reach the 200 plateau.
Would Waino do the same for some vet too since they did it for him ?
